***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

Wow! In all my hours in the game I have never seen anything like that. It's actually quite funny :D Was the ref drunk?
He wasn't even stopping the game. You could see NOTHING about this when you view the game. But the overview window mixed everything up.
I've had Malts glitch, thankfully it was one game after a save so I quit and replayed it, mostly as it made no sense in the post game thingy.

Most annoying glitch I have found is cb's don't get a straight red for hacking someone down who's clean through on goal

Yeah, I restarted it.

I tried to record part of it, but for some reason, I lost the video

Just started as Tottenham, and was wondering what I should be doing, as I still have no clue? If I want to improve players is that just through training/playing them? Any good transfers I should have? Improving my tactics? etc etc anything really!

WEll I think there are two ways to play the game, look at your players and pick a tactics to suit them or pick tactics you like then find the players to make that tactic work.

I use the second method, I have a couple of tactics that I really like and try to build my team around those.

The only other piece of advice I can give is don't chop and change tactics too much as it takes a while for players to adjust to new tactics. What I do is have a normal/attacking and defensive tactic and switch between them as needed. This from my own experience of the game, others might have different views.

Other than that, be prepared to get annoyed, angry and frustrated at the game but the rewards are good when you achieve something. Even something as simple as stopping a 4 game losing streak. :D

I'd play to Spurs strengths, decent speed and attacking players. Move up Dempsey/Holtby/Dembele into AMC and play a 4-2-3-1. Then use Livermore/Sandro/Parker/Huddlestone holding midfield (I play my 2 CM's as ball winner and deep lying playmaker) with defence style set. I'm pretty sure you want Defoe as poacher, or use Adebayor as target man depending on opposition weaknesses in defence/their recent form. Get Bale and Lennon as attacking wingers too! Until you get a tactic developed over quite a few seasons it's probably best to just use roles that fit the players you have (it highlights important stats for you)

You can play a DMC instead of AMC when playing tough opposition or away games

As for transfers definitely get a top striker in, along with some cover for your wingers incase of injuries. Maybe a young upcoming LB too?

Okay thanks for the tips guys, I'll try to act on them soon. Going okay pre-season so far, hammered some top french side 7-2, beat Real M 2-0, and the same with Huddersfield... I am now expecting the decline as the league starts :D

I will be back with some more questions inevitably!

I've had it glitch playing against Man Utd. They had a goal disallowed and the game finished 0-0 according to some of the reports, 1-0 according to others. Computer gave Man Utd the 3 points though

I wonder if SI will issue another patch or if it's just FM2014 for them (which would be a tad annoying)?

any good challenges people are doing atm? Thinking about trying to win the champions league in a country like Denmark or something,

I've got Kilmarnock into the CL but I struggle against ALL of the opposition :D Best place so far is first round knockouts but this season I'm up against Barcelona so I won't stand much chance there :p

This game is killing me seriously, I need a good working formation can anyone help me, I'm playing with Newcastle, so need a tac that works with low to mid league teams :D

Malt's one of win all the champions leagues in the world is fun to watch... (I am going to try it at the end of this season provided I win the European one a second time)

That or try and get the all the way up achievement for Scotland without using Rangers ;)

The Pentagon challenge is THE challenge. Its simple.

- You get to win a lot
- You get to build your career, with no experience/reputation and unemployed, up to winning Worldwide
- You get to go to places where you never dream of managing (South Africa, Korea etc.)
- Its a long game, so you can finish it over the course of a year (meaning you start at the begining of FM13, and end just before FM14 comes out.
- Its FUN!

Btw, the pentagon challenge is hwere you have to win the Champions League in all 5 continents (Europe, Africa, Asia, N. America, S. America), and also the World Cup.

You will see regens emerge, retire, and become top managers, so don't expect it to be short, at all.

I'm in ;)

Any rules?

Well, only a few.

- You must start UNEMPLOYED
- You must start with SUNDAY LEAGUE FOOTBALL reputation

Open as many leagues as you want. Make sure you open S. Africa (as its the only African League). I would suggest you open as many leagues as possible. This is how I started

Managing some team called Guizhou Renha Guojumatai(quite a mouthful) in the Chinese league which I didn't even know existed :p

They are currently 6th and have a stadium with a 51,000 capacity

The league is already 14 games in as my game started in June but this could be intersting.
