So an MLS Montreal update, won the MLS again

Didn't win the league outright, came second but won the cup no problem! Failed to win the canada cup again, but I did put out a reserves team. Final season there to win the north america champions league

edit OH ARSE!!!! To get into the north american champions league with a candaian team I need to win the canada cup, be the best placed canadian team or win the supporters shield and the mls cup and hope the winner of the canada cup isn't in the mls. So I qualified for this seasons tournament the season before last but not the one after, I think. :mad:

should have gone to portland.

Is FM 2013 worth buying?

Some people love it but a lot of user reviews I've read are complaining about a broken match engine where players don't carry out your instructions and do loads of stupid stuff.

Have they got the match engine working well now or am I better off waiting until 2014 comes out?

Thanks for any advice.

I would say it is definitely, categorically worth buying. It is a brilliant game. Sure there are lots of complaints and it is a very difficult game to master. But it is also incredibly rewarding on so many levels.

As for the players not doing precisely what you want - well I'd agree with this to some extent, but as in real life players will not always be able to follow your every wish. I'm sure there is some abstraction to consider too. There are definitely a few bugs still in the match engine too, but nothing ground breaking in my opinion providing you save regularly.

Isn't 14 due out in September?

WAIT! This seasons is awful(still have about 400 hours logged) but FM09 was one of the best I think and they have only hindered it since.

Three months and FM14 will be out and you can start fresh like all of us.

This one isn't the best in the sense of most fun but its the best in the sense of more like real life, last few you could get away with the perfect tactic and just keep plodding through, this one there is more pressure from the ai to think about the game more....

I always feel like I am playing a game and not against individual teams or managers, I would much rather set up a league with you lot if up for it..........?

I know what you mean. If SI can sort out the youth buying policy of the clubs, then I think it could be a major catalyst in this game developing.

At present, a club won't loan out their youth players to teams based on the reputation of the loaning team's league versus the EPL reserve league... which is ridiculous. Also, the amount of times I see UTD, City or Spurs spoof £3m on an average youngster from Spain or France, never play them, never loan them out, never develop them... and then release them three years later!! It's rather annoying.

It stalls the development of the players which does happen in real life but it is sheer madness at the level and amout it happens and you can never loan the players unless you are at the right club and it is on their terms, so annoying.

Yeah - no doubt it does actually happen in real life, but in RL a club has a plan for each youth player in order to attempt to get them to reach full potential. This doesn't happen in the slightest in the game.

On another note, I went away to Glastonbury last week and missed out on the opportunity to become to official FM 14 researcher for Brentford

Please tell me you saw Portishead?! That's basically the only thing that would have made it ok... (other than the stones but that was a sort of mandatory go see this year)

Otherwise such a let down, being a researcher would be pretty funny!

Decided to go see Chic instead of Portishead. Have to say that after I'd sunk 6 or so pints of Brothers Cider, without realising it was 7%, Chic was one of the best things I've ever seen live. Completely unbelievable. But the booze may have affected.

The shame. Got a couple of longish flights in a few weeks so have FM on standby. Also been trying to rouse the troops for one of the final ATPs but having no success!
