I imagine he'll do a job for a season, was that on a free? :)

Yep - one year deal, wasn't entirely sure what a 37 year old who's never played in England was going to add to the team, but all the reports back have been excellent. Reckon he's moved over here with a view to go into a coaching role in 12 months time.

I've just kicked off the 2033/34 season with a 3-1 away win at WBA with my Crewe team. Successive promotions from L1 and Champ, and a few days before my opening EPL game my new star signing centre mid tears his calf muscle on international duty and is out for 3 months... :(

2033... :o

Makes me rage so much when a key player gets an injury in a nothing game. I had Cani strain his groin playing a friendly against Huddersfield, kept him sidelined for the beginning of the season. Just looking at Rayo's squad and it looks like it has a couple of decent players in it, will give them a try in the morning, may try and salvage Villareal's squad for the new season in La Liga if I can be bothered as well.

It's frustrating as hell. It's that kind of thing that makes me want to cheat and reload a recent save just to avoid it happening because... it's unfair!

It looks like it might have been a stroke of luck though - his replacement, a 21 year old ex-MK Dons and St Johnston guy who I've chased for a couple of seasons and may or may not be good... I haven't figured it out yet, won MOM in the first game with a 9 and an assist, and then curled in a 25 yard free kick in the 87th min to beat Man City 3-2!?!

Yeah injuries in this game is one of the its weak points - there are so many and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do to prevent them. They are totally random at worst - at best providing your players aren't overly exhausted they have less chance of injury, supposedly.

But in my latest QPR save I reguarly field weak squads. I spent £50 million on a iconic Brazilian defender to have him knocked out for 3 months with a torn hamstring in his second match. Now he's back to fitness he has lost his 4 star ability and doesn't look to improve :( Bang goes my £50 million...

I decided to start playing this again and picked up my Liverpool save. I now know why I stopped playing, I have Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday then Man U on Sunday and I have 4 central midfielders injured. Looks like I'm going to have to fill the bench with 17 year olds.

I was playing a game...It went into ET.

I had used my 3 subs then someone got injured. How do you get them off the pitch? Ended up have to go to 'home' and exiting the game?

I left-clicked and right-clicked the injured player, couldn't see an option?

No need to take them off it does that for you, if you have no subs left just press confirm and it'll carry on. You can change your formation/move players around to cover positions etc too.

That happened to me in footy manager 2012 when I bought Messi.

When it come to injuries, they seem sometimes random, but I often find that injury prone players get injured in training a lot so thats worth noting before fielding them in a match before an important match. Also, if a player is featuring for a team in such a large proportion of the teams matches then they may be more susceptible to a long term injury due to their jadedness. These are hidden attributes in FM.

If you've run out of subs, they automatically come off the pitch. So you can move an active player into their position to replace them, but other than that you just need to leave them on the pitch.

Hmmm, SImplyCDKeys took payment for FM14 which I pre ordered whilst it was very cheap (£15.99), not sure why they took the money now, it's not out for a while yet?

I can't even find it on their site anymore!

After a while I've decided to go with Dinamo Moscow, a few months in and I haven't lost a competitive match yet, it did take penalties for me to dump Vitesse out of the Europa League qualifiers though. The squad seems okay, Kuranyi is a beast and has more goals than games at the moment, Kokorin has scored a few Ronaldo-esque goals for me and Dzsudzsak has a killer direct free kick. :D

The wage budget is decent, I'm about £300,000 under budget though transfer funds weren't particularly generous. The squad doesn't need strengthening until next season as we only have two real rivals in the league and I'm not expecting this squad to get very far in Europe this time around. I'm looking to build the team around Kokorin as he looks incredibly promising. I'll probably try and get Arshavin on a free at the end of the season too. :p

Yeah to be honest I haven't lost a good player like that before so I've put it down to experience. But it has cost me dearly - although QPR is now the 15th richest team I can't afford to splash £50 million on duff players :D

Having said that, he is a consistent player and I will field him until he retires/dies.

I had to buy some fresh talent before my third season as I was always fielding a small squad. Now I have more or less a full set of replacements whom I rotate regularly. I try not to play tired players where possible although sometimes it is inevitible with the amount of fixtures. But I lose players to injury regularly and I can't understand why it is so bad. Just random I guess but so annoying.

Here's a money making tip. I tell you something I like to do. If you have exceptional training facilities this works a treat.

I tend to wait until the larger European teams have let their youth squads go and pick a few 4 star potentials up on frees. I tend to offer them hot prospect or backup/rotation contracts to keep them happy. But I never intend to play them in the first team. I make sure they are in the reserves and set to play reserve games. Then I train them like crazy. I choose my own PPM's for them and set their training schedule to very heavy. Within a couple of seasons these youngsters are 4 star and worth quite a bit. I've just sold a few of these chaps for £5-£10 million. It's an easy way of making money but it only works if you have lots of coaches and top training facilities.

Finished my first season with Dinamo Moscow yesterday, we won the league, this year we are 10 games into the season and haven't yet conceded a goal, winning all of our matches bar one freak 0-0 against Volga who we really should have buried but I didn't pay much attention to the team talk which was probably our downfall. We won the Russian Super Cup 4-0 also which was a nice bonus.

It's weird, on paper we don't have a magnificent squad, we have a couple of very good players but our quality of depth is very poor, yet we seem to easily brush aside almost every team we play against in the league. So far this season we have recorded a comfortable 2-0 against Zenit which was preceded by a 3-0 against Spartak, two of the three teams who can really challenge us, the other being CSKA who I've not played against this season but fared well against last season.

Financially we are doing really well, we have a wage budget of £800,000 per week, our total wages only come to £600,000 and with a remaining £25,000,000 transfer budget also. The only problem is the foreign player rules for Russian squads and also the fact that no self respecting player wants to play there. My signings have been really limited so far, I didn't sign anyone in the first season but I've picked up Arshavin on a free, signed Dmitry Sychev from Lokomotiv just as a backup for Kuranyi, picked up Răzvan Raț for £1,500,000 and signed some young Ukrainian defensive midfielder. Other than that I have the same squad as last season. The CL will be an interesting addition to our fixtures this year though, we're the only Russian team in it and we're grouped with Man Utd, Benfica and Brugge. :D

/\ I played against DM in the CL and I scored a 2-2 draw. Found them difficult even though I should have walked it!

This is my best player currently. Stepanov. £43 million worth of German striker. Quality player. Scored 41 goals last season.

And as a nice comparison, this is when I bought him for £25 million. Notice the growth in 3 years! Very interesting that.

Very nice! One of the reasons I'm looking to move from Dinamo is the crapness of the youth players. I've requested upgrading the facilities twice, once I was denied and the second time the board agreed but won't do anything about it until the end of the season. I think two seasons in that rubbish league is enough though to be honest. :p

Yeah I feel your pain! I've had this happen to me numerous times. It's so important to upgrade your training and youth facilities and it is often overlooked. You will only get upgrades when you have a steady positive income though. Explains why they will do it at the end of a season - hoping that you will earn some decent prize money ;) I've also been in the position where I've spent about £50 million on stadium uprades only to have the planning permission refused part way through the process.
