***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

I've also been in the position where I've spent about £50 million on stadium uprades only to have the planning permission refused part way through the process.

That's gutting  :(

We won our first CL match 3-1 against Brugge then promptly got roflstomped by Utd, only a 2-0 loss but they totally dominated the game. I'm looking for another club now but don't want to leave and end up jobless.

Edit: After all my moaning about wanting to leave I've been offered the Roma, Fiorentina and the Atletico jobs and turned all three down to stay at Dinamo for the rest of the season. We're doing pretty well in the league, almost at the winter break so I'll stick a few screens up when I get to January. :)

So some of you might be wondering how I am doing with Pumas. Here is a summary.

I started quite badly, losing 4 consecutive games, and drawing the 5th. Then I won one game, and lost the one after. I changed my formation, and managed to get going. I ended the season 2nd with 32 points, 11 behind America (Mex). I went into the play offs, and I beat Morelia (1-1, 3-1), Santos Laguna (1-1, 2-0) and finally, America (Mex) (2-0, 0-0).

In summer, I didn't manage to find many players, and thus, I couldn't convert to a formation with 4 defenders, so i stuck to a 3-1-4-2 formation. I brought in one guy on a free, and two defenders on loan. I sold a total of 5M, and sent a lot of youngsters on loan. The season started with a lot of ups and downs, with just one win from 5 games. Just like in the first season, I picked up pace, and once again finished 2nd with 34 points, just 3 points behind America (Mex). In the play offs, I beat Atlas (2-1, 3-2), Chivas (Mex) (1-0, 2-0) and America (Mex) (1-1, 3-2). The final game was very exciting, because they were 2-0 up after 70 minutes, and I managed to pull it back to 2-2 by the 83rd minute. The winning goal came in the 121st minute, to claim my second league title.

In the Champions League group stage, we were drawn with some below average teams. From the 4 games (3 teams in a group, top one qualifies) I won all 4, scoring 14 and conceding 1.

In January, I managed to buy two players, one reserve goalkeeper and one midfielder, both on a free from American clubs. For the third time, the league started very wobbly, with just one win from 4 games. I managed to pick up the pace, winning the following 7 games. March was a very tough month, because we had to play 11 games, that is an average of a game in less than 3 days! It was crazy! To make matters worse, 4 of my best players were called for international duty with Mexico, and I couldn't re-call them. needles to say, the games won were all 1-0 or 2-1. After 13 games (out of 17) I sit 1st with 30 points, 5 points over 2nd place Cruz Azul (although some teams following have a game less). America (Mex) sit 6th with 21 points from 12 games!

I was drawn against Colorado in the Champions League. The first game ended 1-0 for me, and the second leg ended 3-2, coming from a 2-1 (against) situation. For the quater final, I was drawn against America (Mex). Whilst I have always gotten the win against them in games that cound (finals etc.) they still have a team that is somewhat better than mine. The first leg ended 4-0 to us! It is probably the best game I have ever played with Pumas. We destroyed them! I really feel we can go all the way now!

Do a toshj, quit your job and just play all day every day :p

Haha - never thought I would be a source of inspiration! I reinstalled it for a flight to SF and it's genuinely amazing for long haul flights, but with my holiday coming to an end in a week, I've no idea how to stop playing.

I'm currently hovering between 3rd and 5th in my first season in the EPL with Crewe in March, although my first choice striker (screenshot posted on here a few pages back just before he joined me on a free) has been out for two months with another month to go. He'd scored 22 in 25 so far this season and I'm struggling with form at the moment. About 8 games to go and I'm desperate for a Champions League spot. And I've prepared accordingly for next season by hoovering up the four best regents in England!

Started a new game with arsenal last week but won the champs league and premiership in first the first season so kinda a pointless new save. I'm thinking of a mid table prem club and winning the league with them as doing it from a very low team takes a lot of time.

Far from it! Challenge is now to keep them there! The board will be so impressed by your abilities that they will require you to win the Premiership again - this will make your game much harder. I've just won the BPL twice on the trot as QPR but I'm finding it really difficult keeping them there. Even though I am a rich club I don't get the budgets that the larger teams get. Makes it really hard work especially as the game progresses. Players get greedy and want stupid wages.

It will also turn out that bids you made were accepted but then the opposing club upped the price or the player chose to go somewhere else, the board will also make bids or tell the press bids have been made on your behalf the week before the season tickets are to go on sale, the likelyhood is you won't be able to sign anyone till you have sold someone but you can sign all the French and African kids that you like!!!

lmao its alright im not wenger!

So in the league, I went on to win 3 of the remaining 4 games, and finishing the closing stage first, with a (personal) record of 40 points. Surprisingly, America (Mex) managed to finish 2nd, but they were 6 points behind me. In the play off, I was drawn (obviously) against the team who finished 8th. I lost the first game 3-0, and I thought that I was out. The team managed to perform an amazing game in the second leg, winning the tie 5-1 (5-4 overall). The best thing is, that America (Mex) lost -2 on aggregate to Necaxa, who have 4 players on loan from me. I was drawn against...Necaxa for the semi final, but 2 players came back from loan. Won the first game 1-0 (away) and won also the second game, 1-0. That put me into the final against Tigres, who finished 6th in the league. I lost the 1st leg 1-0, but I played my reserves as the first team was low on condition. In the second leg, I beat them 4-0, with all 4 goals coming in the second half. Lucas Rafael scored 3 of the 4 goals. Therefore, I won the Liga MX closing stage.

After beating America (Mex) 4-0, I played a defensive 2nd leg. They scored the first goal, and I got one back, 1-1. To qualify, they needed to score 4 more. They only scored 2, and it ended 3-1. I went to the final, against last year's winners, Chivas (who beat America (Mex) in the final) and finished 11th in the closing stage. In the first leg, we played one of the best games ever. We won 4-0, thanks to a hat trick from midfielder Portillo (got him free this season) and one goal from Vallejo (one Portillo goal and Vallejo's were penalties). Just like the game against America (Mex) the second leg was played on the back foot. We managed to hold as much as possible, and only ended up losing 2-0. I can't explain the losses against America (Mex) and Chivas in the second leg, but I am just happy I managed to win the cup.

So now I finished the Pentagon Challenge. It was fun to do, but I doubt I would do it again (too long). I want to continue this save though, and finish top in the Hall of Fame. i want to achieve this, by joining my favorite club, Roma. The previous manager stayed with Roma from 2014 up to 2027. I'm hoping this new guy doesn't take that long to leave. I will patiently wait though.

Currently jobless, I left Dinamo Moscow at the end of the second season after winning two league titles and two Russian Super Cups. There was no point staying as I'd have probably continued to win the league but the club had no chance whatsoever in the Champions League due to both the club and league not being particularly prestigious, I couldn't attract any big names despite having upwards of £30,000,000 to spend at the start of the second season, also the entire backroom needed completely gutting and starting again and I just couldn't be bothered to go through that effort for a team I don't really care about. :p

Quite fancy the Dynamo Kyiv job but they recently hired another manager while I was managing in Russia, plus I imagine they will be too similar to Moscow, not being able to attract decent enough players to challenge for continental honours.

I guess I've found the sweet spot...

That's AMAZING! Hadn't realised the pentagon challenge was done, congratulations!!

I'm still stuck at Montreal, been busy with real life for a bit so FM has had to be put aside (and it's too hot for the mac being on loads)

I working two jobs atm, one is 30 hours, and the other is pretty much on call. Not having much hours of the second job, so when I'm not at work or going out with friends, I'm FM-ing.

Now I'm working ot beat Fergie.

This is why training and youth facilities are so important guys. Check this chap out - a brand new striker, as part of my annual youth intake. He was a 4 star in November and by August the following year he is now 4.5, and I reckon I can turn him into a 5 star player with some effort. He is already subbing in my first team, he is that good. Only 17 too! I have 3 other players with reasonably similar stats - 2 of them are central defenders. Home-grown beauties! I have the top training and youth facilities at my club and a level 1 youth intake. So the best there is basically. It took YEARS to get there however. Patience is the key in this game.
