All my hard work there :D Nice one with QPR as well!

I got to 5 prem wins in a row and went to do something different, they have won it twice since then, won the champions league this season and some cups I think, mostly with the players I bought in/team I built. Going to be a pig to dislodge them now...

Spent so much as Mansfield in the BSP, when I get promotion, I expect hardly any funds to build a decent League 2 team. I WILL need a CB, RB and LAM who plays IF or Winger...any tips on decent free-agents for my second season with a naff club?

I did make a couple of mistakes, signed a Mirko Renieri on £1.8K a week, he turned out to be nothing but toss, and Damian Casalinuovo on £2.2K a week who can't hit the back of the net to save his life...none of these 2 want to terminate their contract and are far to expensive to release, I have tried giving them away for free and no-one wants them...oops...

Your own success coming round to bite you in the arse. I'm having the same probably with Stockport. I created a behemoth of a football team in Stockport, and now not only do they win everything but I can never get a result off them. And what makes it worse is that they're my rivals. So not only do I lose, but my fans and board throw the toys out the pram every time!

I'm having major moral doubts at the moment. Think it may be time to hang up (read: uninstall) again in order to rejoin the real world. Spent hours thinking about it last night, put together a massive plan of action today... and then have played FM so far! :p

I've been in that position before Jaffa and it is painful. If they're that bad you'll just have to let their contracts expire - hopefully you haven't given them 5 year contracts ;) make sure they are in your 'not wanted' list and you DOF will know to ditch (if you have one).

I'm still not having much luck finding quality youth players :( Another season has passed now and I've just tralwed through a lot of countries and haven't find many to shout about - maybe one or two really good looking players but they are in the wrong positions for me. I guess I could retrain them. But I did find a 4 star potential English midfielder who looks great for a 15 year old. I put in an offer for him and he accepts my contract. £3,500 a week at 15.. But he still refuses me in the end and sticks with his £55 per week contract at Reading. LOL. Mental. We will see what happens. I've just put in a £6 million transfer bid for him. He better be worth it! He's the only English player frm the current season worthy of 4 stars.

Oh wow! I haven't gotten to the point where I have to play Bishops Stortford, that's at least 6 real life weeks away... It's pretty funny to think all your hard work is making the rest of the game difficult for you now though.

Ah I know the feeling, today was supposed to be really productive, it's been getting free players into Charlton. You know the real world isn't worth it yet! (though there is the Alan Partridge film...) :p

I also just renewed someone's contract until 2040! That made me shudder...

Seeing the AP film on Friday, and I'm off to the Pitchfork festival in Paris in a couple of months, but I've been told by my girlfriend that I'm not allowed to attend unless I do some work! Decisions, decisions. I've just managed to get Crewe into the CL for the first time and I have Real Madrid in my group. I can't not play this!

Wow! I haven't been looking at the dates (good old short contracts in lower leagues), that's madness though!

I had to google the pitchfork music festival but that looks amazing! Panda Bear is the oddest individual, when I saw him he did loads of new material on his own a bit awkwardly. Should pretend to do some work (or explain how FM is work) to go! Especially Crewe getting Real Madrid in the CL!!!!

Well, you can't tell your assistant to filter out unrealistic targets if you have no assistant. :D:D:D

Thanks for that  Just need to sign loads more staff as my team is lacking heavily...also spend 500K on a player in League 2...Micheal West from Crewe, amazing for my in the BSP, also signed Michael Hector after impressing on loan. Signed Ryan Colclough from Crewe for £70K...now I think my team is ready...

Do people invest in coaches/training?

I try to get the best coaches available, even if they cost me money. I feel they will help my players develop :p

God yes. Absolutely essential. I also employ some specialised coaches specifically for the under 18s. It's the youth training that is really important as that builds a solid foundation for the player. I buy them in at 14 or 15 and train them at home for 3 years or so before playing them in the first team. At the mo I have a 4.5 star 16 year old left back playing in the first team :D

just tried to get back into this again, but i'm close to jacking it in, simply cos of the injuries.

i've only got a small squad (playing as doncaster rovers), and i've got 2 of my main centre backs out for 4+mths, right back out for 3 mths, main striker 2-3 mths.

add to that no matter if i press the opposition or sit back the energy levels drop like a brick and after subs at the end of the game i've got 4-5 players on 60-70% health.

any useful advice before i give in ?

cheers

Quite a few injury crises can be based on a combination of high or very high training levels, how hard your players are tackling (if you ask for assistant advice on the opposition on match days, they can also set your players on hard tackling) and the amount and quality of your physios :)

cheers

My Mansfield team are shocking...I mentioned above somewhere my stupid FA-Cup campaign when I beat Watford 2-0 and drew Saints away, I lost 1-0...Now, JPT in league 2 and I draw Wednesday away as my first game, I beat them pretty easy...not doing too bad in the league either, I've got a feeling that due to the prolific strikers I have (17 year old scores for fun) that I may be in contention for promotion...

Is there any side-effects of securing back to back promotions from BSP straight to League 1?

Side effects - well, potentially a nasty one. Some of your players might want their contracts improved. But from BSP to League 1 I don't think it's too bad. You only get hammered when you start winning higher level leagues. Some of my players are on £235k a week lol..

Finally started losing games, started against Barnet of all teams, they are bottom as Edgar Davids left them and retired. I lost 6 in a row and coming up to Christmas I've won a game and moral is right in the middle, some good, some poor, I'm sat at 17th in the League 2 table so what I said earlier has jinxed my streak...
