HAHA! Please sent that to her, along with a link to the champions league music to describe the feeling when you realised it...

Have sent it. It's going to go down like a lead balloon... the image didn't attach so I had to resend it again :( She's going to murder me!

My wolves team are starting to really get on my nerves, ive finished 2nd in the prem two years in a row, the first year which I finished 2nd I won the euro cup then was offered 25mil to spend, I spent 15m leaving another 10m. I then went on to win the champ league the year after with the fa cup also but now they have only given me £15mil and demand I win the league. I have £45mil in the bank and they refuse to give me anymore and I don't understand it, most my players are on 30k p/w one at 60k and one at 70k just below 1mil anyway and my cap is 1.3mil. really don't get how im going to win the league with an aging team with 3 key players leaving on free as they wanted over 100k, and im afraid john guidetti isn't worth 100k p/w. Might resign or join the newest opening.

I find this occurs if the club is generally over-achieving - there are more expectations from the baord but less money to support you which is frustrating. The only way round it is to keep impressing your board and grow that stature - if you have the cash invest in stadium expansions and such like.

I've no idea why it keeps happening. Whenever it gets to penalties, it's basically a foregone conclusion that I've lost. Did the double this year though - Prem and Champions League with Crewe... although I still haven't matched Dario Gradi's Legendary status!

Getting to that stage where my scouting, infrastructure, team and reputation is so strong that 5 star players rarely exist now. A "leading Premier Division star" report by one of my coaches is down to two and a half stars in their rating! It used to only be four to five stars. Just signed this guy for £18m. I figure he's still young, got a four and a half star potential rating and if all his attributes jump up by two or three over his career, he's going to be incredible:

Also, the CL Dream Team has just been announced and of the 11 players included, I've bought and managed 7 of them at various clubs! BOOM! Might need to send that in an email to the GF... :p

That guy is amazing mate. I have got the exact problem you are experiencing and have had for several seasons now. There are no longer 5 star players, only 4.5's. I have several of those mind you ;)

Took me 3 seasons.

1st season I finished 2nd in the National.

2nd season I did quite badly until the last 2/3 games, which propelled me from 17th to 12th/13th.

3rd season I got 3 good loan players, and I good player on a free. Things immediately started well. I arrived in the Semi Final of one of the cups (lost to European Champions, PSG) and I am currently in the quater final of the other cup. I am 2nd in the league 1 point off Monaco. There are some 7 or 8 games left.

Really cba finishing the league, although I was already getting quite a few good players on a free.

Next up is Scottish or Brazilian Hero.

Had a mad evening last night where I just couldn't bothered with the game.

Ended up just playing 4-4-2 attacking football with no regard for the opposition. Started OK but soon went downhill. Martyn Cunningham also wants a transfer now because I wasn't using a defensive midfielder. Should have taken that £33.5m that Spurs offered me earlier.

Quite fancy a new challenge with a lower league club. Do any of them have decent transfer pots?

This youngster will turn into something special. Another top German striker for me.

Is that guy a product of your youth team or have you signed him? Either way you can be pretty content knowing that he'll turn into one of the best forwards on the game (barring injuries, etc.).

I had a funny one happen a while ago. Signed a kid from Sao Paulo, a MRC/AMRC. Looked a very good prospect when I bought him for Fulham, and then a couple of seasons after I moved on from them he was a Wonderkid and his attributes were incredible. Not too much in the 19s/20s but almost everything was at least 15-16+. He went to United for £25m and was looking to be a world beater. He basically spent the majority of the next four seasons injured and before you know it he was a knackered 25 year old worth £500k playing for New York Red Bulls with attributes no higher than 14, but most around 11. Poor fake computer-generated guy.

Found another giant CB, so am flogging one of my main CBs to Man City for £40m. Once this guy signs, my three first choice CBs (and the excellent youth prospect) will be 6'7", 6'6", 6'8" and 6'8". I always find that the good giant CBs have better average ratings than excellent normal height CBs.

I bought him for £10m 2 years ago. Since then I have trained him like buggery. I am now focussing a lot more time in the under 18's training. I'm ditching some first team coaches (when there contracts end) and replacing them with coaches who specifically work with youngsters. I am finding this really helps the youth team, especially with PPM. I don't intend to use that striker for another season at least though - I'm hoping he wont decline (I have made sure he plays every reserve game he can).

I've got 3 other players of that standard too in my reserves. I spend a lot of time hunting the wonderkids, sometimes they work but mostly they dont lol.. All my reserve players are at least 4 star :D

I have a few tall CB's in my reserve squad. But they're not quite ready for first team duties.

Good idea that. I've stopped loaning my youth players out until they're 18 now. Before I used to loan them out as soon as possible 15/16/17, but I find they don't get enough first team football at that age, and my youth team and reserve games provide enough competition for them.

Do you set their individual training levels as the hard setting?

Edit - on another note, on the same day I managed to move into a new ground and successfully petition the board into expanding it! Sweet.

I may have gone a bit overboard on my save, with the buying of defenders.

Currently with Montreal Impact, have about 8 or 9 centre backs, not enough midfielders, no cash to spend and nothing really to trade for. Woops.

My subs bench has an average of 4 defenders on it. Looks like I don't have enough strikers either.

I don't set their training to hard. I did read somewhere that doing so to a youngster can cause them to suffer more frequent injuries and burn them out quicker. I don't know if that is true though. But I definitely keep the 4 star+ players in my reserve team, set all their training manually and let them grow. Sometimes I buy a pup and loan them out until I can let them go.

I've got a few Brazilians coming my way soon - problem with Brazil is that they don't let their youth go abroad until they are of age - so you can buy a 14 year old but you cant have them for 2 or 3 seasons and THEN you need to gain a work permit. It's a nightmare. I wait 3 seasons for a 16 year old, then have to send them abroad for 3 years. This has worked well for me in the past however so sometimes it is worth investing in. I have one midfielder at the mo who is 5 star and 27. I bought him aged 14 and have spent years and years nurturing. It's a massive investment of my time lol..

Just wondering if anyone has played a tactic without a forward position, at the moment i am playing 424 (4 defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 wingers with 2 attacking midfielders) and it's been going really well for the past season with this layout, without having to relay on a good forward to get most of the goals for the team so a lot of other players are contributing good goals with 60% plus possession going towards my team a lot of the time.

surprised no ones mentioned the appearance of FM14 on the sigames site :)

Should really get round to making the FM14 thread for it so not to clutter this one, just too early to get excited about 14 when there's plenty of fun to have with 13 :D

Nice one! Please do Scotland without Rangers... ;) Brazil just looks mad/fun as the league is a bit full on with games
