***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

It's the most unused in modern football! Real life I have never seen a proper sweeper, I would love to buy him up and make a formation revolving round the sweeper function (excuse to have proper wingbacks and everything).

MLS dream is more important though... for now!
 
So an MLS Montreal update, won the MLS again :D

Didn't win the league outright, came second but won the cup no problem! Failed to win the canada cup again, but I did put out a reserves team. Final season there to win the north america champions league ;) edit OH ARSE!!!! To get into the north american champions league with a candaian team I need to win the canada cup, be the best placed canadian team or win the supporters shield and the mls cup and hope the winner of the canada cup isn't in the mls. So I qualified for this seasons tournament the season before last but not the one after, I think. :mad: should have gone to portland.

This one isn't the best in the sense of most fun but its the best in the sense of more like real life, last few you could get away with the perfect tactic and just keep plodding through, this one there is more pressure from the ai to think about the game more....

Yeah - no doubt it does actually happen in real life, but in RL a club has a plan for each youth player in order to attempt to get them to reach full potential. This doesn't happen in the slightest in the game.

On another note, I went away to Glastonbury last week and missed out on the opportunity to become to official FM 14 researcher for Brentford :(

Please tell me you saw Portishead?! That's basically the only thing that would have made it ok... (other than the stones but that was a sort of mandatory go see this year)

Otherwise such a let down, being a researcher would be pretty funny!

Long flights are crying out for FM! (well short ones to, sat in plenty of airports with it out). How can people not be roused by Loop, Mogwai, OM and comets on fire?!?!
 
Ah fair enough, me and a mate are obsessed with the second weekend (he owes me a lot of money for sorting it now).

Steam doesn't touch the save files I don't think (or the face pack/additions) so just install and it'll all be there ;)
 
It's happened to me before as well, had 3 left wingers break in quick succession one season, that was a bit much as once first team opportunities appears for one guy he went out with an injury a few weeks later...

The way they stack up is a bit odd in this fm now I have played it more just because it seems to be bursts in some positions...

Amazing please tell me you took the mexican team job?! The league there has a funny opening and closing stages deal but other than that it's pretty simple to do! (no budget caps and things like that)
 
It's 2028 and they are on their second post me manager after pep was rubbish they signed up Antonio Conte who HAS SOLD ALL MY FULL BACKS :mad: so instead of having a world class team they now play 3-5-2 and are ok, but have no full backs at all.

I'm waiting to see if they fall apart over the next few seasons and I have had 2 ad a half I game years at Montreal Impact, won 2 mls titles and realised I needed to win the Canada cup to get into the champions league (batty system). Not really playing it this week to get ready for that one last stab at getting the champions league there otherwise I'm leaving for somewhere else...
 
That guy is amazing, though how is his price so high with 18 months on his contract??

The scouting is funny, the reports have to be taken into context of a few things, their ability to judge potential/ability, their adaptability, their discipline and how good the current squad is (along with squad knowledge).

So when you have lots of new scouts that are good they know lots about a player but not a lot about the team and will give everyone massive ratings. Later on as everyone sort of gets to know the team its less prevalent to get such good kids as they aren't as over rated/hyped up....

After a while you get used to sort of skimming the scout reports and spotting the right kinds of player that will develop (the get angry when they are sold by later managers, pep sold my next big thing CB to United, then went to United again and sold him again!)

I had the same problem after I left Stockport County. Had one the EPL a couple of times and had built an awesome squad. I left and the new guy has sold half of the decent players for about half the amount he could have got for them (still ended up shifting £111m of players out!) but they've now got the wrong formation for the players :mad: I'm stuck with Crewe in L1 now trying to find my feet... with my World Class reputation :D

Humm i haven't decided yet, might go for Argentina or Brazil and try out one of those odd leagues (or Australia) just for the really restrictive nature of them...

Or I am going to tear up Belgium/South Africa! :D

It's reassuring the game does like to break other peoples hard work as well... It's a little heart breaking to see my team completely dismantled by an idiot! Do Crew still have an amazing academy so you can almost do the entirely homegrown squad with them?? Plus I imagine world class rep helps a lot :p

Belgium was so much fun last season, for some reason everyone in Africa wants to come to a 3rd division Belgium team! South Africa is on for the african champions league only...

Haha! Poaching coming back to bite you is pretty funny :p at least the decent academy should help in the longer run (if you stick it out with them)

It was winning the mls the first time, being told I get to compete in the champions league in the season after, then not getting my place that tipped m over! Shouldn't have been a Canadian team, though they dish out canadian passports after 3 years which makes the mls international player rules simpler to beat ;)

I am going to win that champions league with Montreal if it kills me!
 
That's AMAZING! Hadn't realised the pentagon challenge was done, congratulations!!

I'm still stuck at Montreal, been busy with real life for a bit so FM has had to be put aside (and it's too hot for the mac being on loads)
 
Wn the Canadian cup last night for the first time , now top English manager and have the 5 cups achievement :)

Most importantly it means at some point soon the North American champions league wil be mine!!! Then I can finally leave the mls and so something else (anything, maybe get more into the new civ expansion)
 
FM is making me angry how long does it take Canada to dish out passports?!?!!?!

I have 2 players who have been here 3 years and are ready to not take up my int slots, had to give away a decent winger just to make space for the worlds best next big thing striker and it still wont hurry up!!! :mad:

I have one or two players I am dying to sign up as well...
