******* Official Football Manager 14 Thread *******

Arghhh you guys in the BPL!!! You got it so easy lol.. I've just done a back to back promotion with Stockport - got them into League 2 now, but I have very little funds. It's such a challenge. Every season I have to almost totally rebuild.
 
This is the first edition since maybe Champ Man 2 97/98 that I've started my first game above League One level. I've always started with Brentford, but I've realised that I despise the first 3 or so season of each save. The lack of diversity (regens, etc.) I find really tedious, so for me it's irrelevant who I start with now, as I'll probably end up taking a team from Skrill up to the top at some point.

Just beat United at home 1-0! Although Lambert just broke his ankle and is out for 3 months... and he's on 15 goals in 20 games so far. I have to make a decision between changing to 4-5-1 or signing either Drogba on £90k a week or Berbatov on £60k a week.

Cortese is Italian and has a preference of signing players from Italy (no real idea why) and the owning family are Swiss.

It's a theme of our last few transfer windows that we've been heavily linked with a few high profile players from those areas

Got my first one, but havent got a clue how you actually use them lol
 
Is the game worth it? I have bought it for my dad for Christmas, but kind of interested myself! Having played since 10 really, clocked 110hours in that (to the 7 I clocked up in 12!)

Would you recommend it?

Either way, it's annoying the hell out of me. But the board are very generous!

Anybody playing from the skrill up ?, started a new save as Forest Green Rovers and iam enjoying it :)

Love it when you sign a free player from a higher team, and they smash 5 goals in first 2 games.

Yes. Started out unemployed, hired by Stockport County, won the Skrill South (or north lol) and then finished second in the Premier. Back to back promotions, now in League 2 and it's a completely different game. My finances are ok but I cannot get any players from higher leagues to join me. Even though I can afford it, they wont entertain the idea, so I am having to build my squad almost entirely every season. I have a striker who according to my best scout will be good enough for League 1 in due course, but the rest are mediocre at best and I am having to play them as much as possible to gain experience. Only thing I can do.
 
Just bought and downloaded it, going to start out with Derby and try to take them back to the big time! How hard is it to get loans in this year version of the game?

Apparently it's much better, however I still only use the classic 2D mode as I prefer it. One thing that drives me crazy is the amount of time I cross it into the box and my striker is unchallenged and has an effort on goal... and hits it straight at the keeper (regardless of the keeper's position in the goal)... and the keeper always holds it!
 
I jumped from 12 to 14 so I'm finding the match engine a massive improvement- tactics seem more intuitive now and use them a lot more in match than I used to
 
Just had a 5 -5 home draw to Liverpool. Came from 3-1 down after 16 minutes to be leading 5-4 only to lose to a late Aspas winner. Boruc and the back 4 had a complete mare

Struggling there myself! As soon as you get a few wins together then lose the morale takes a massive hit so you go on a losing run. Currently in 11th in November but there's only 8points between top and about 17th so it could go any way at the moment
