******* Official Football Manager 14 Thread *******

Finished my first season in the German First division in quite a healthy 11th position :) Despite being expected to lose in the first round of ther german cup I actually went the entire way and won the cup :) beating Dortmund 3-2 away, Schalke 2-1 in Extra Time, aswell as Nurnberg and leverkusen, so no easy run :p

So, 2017/2018 season, I spent something small, like £4M in the Prem...my team was beasting it and I was slipping into debt, so something needed to be done, the team sensed this, I ended up making a stonking run through the FA cup to win, Capital One cup was mine, Charity shield was mine, Europa League final v Juventus went to the second half of added time when Javier Hernadez netted a brace to bring us home that trophy...Ended the season with a huge pot of money and to put my 12th in the worlds richest clubs list...

This season I have brought in Oxlade-Chamberlain for £5M, Kuba (BVB fans should know this) for 500K, sold Micheal Jacobs, Danny Ings, Harry Kane and Jake bidwell and Huntelaar has finally hung up his boots...

Well after 4 seasons of everything being rosey in my stoke stage its fallen to pieces since the last patch, can't buy a win any more even though my squad is brilliant. From champions league winners to rock bottom in 6 months.. :(
 
Not too keen on the new patch.

Conceding a lot now via crosses, hitting the bar far too much and there seems to be a period in the game where none of the players put a tackle in, stay almost static and the opposition score due to this.

Very odd.
 
Tempted to pick it up on steam. I've got everyone since 2010 and most have 100+ hours at least so I'm tempted to pick it up although I don't know if I'll enjoy it as much.
 
Half price everywhere it seems, round about 15 quid.

Normal practice? Gota say, less than two months, next time ill hold fire on buying. While i love throwing money at si... the game sells long after initial release at rrp or discounted slighty.

Either way i enjoy the game.

I don't think there are any megapacks for kits as people tend to only make a few kits and are reluctant to let someone else pack them up in a megapack.

Good post that and I agree with them all.

I also use other graphics found on SI's forums, new pitch textures, the 3D kits and the adboard megapack which all make the viewing of the 3D match engine a lot better!

Does anyone have an alternate link to the Metallic logos? The torrent doesn't work and their servers are currently having problems for premium members.

It took around 20 minutes to find peers, so just leave it, and then download speeds were pretty good.

Just bought the game and I'm finding this version the most difficult to date.

Keeping a clean sheet is incredibly difficult. I find some results unrealistic. I'm Liverpool FYI. I got hammered by Cardiff 6-2 (my team at home), West Ham 5-1 and against Chelsea, John Terry scored a hat trick all from set pieces!! Matt Jarvis and Downing skinned my fullbacks like they are Ronaldo or Hazard.

I've been playing a 4-2-3-1 formation mainly but have tried switching things around such as playing 2 DMCs.

My team (attacking, fluid philosophy....have also switched to Standard at times):
Mignolet (GK-D)

Johnson (FB -S) - Sktrel (CB-LTD) - Agger (CB-D) - Enrique (FB-S)
Lucas (BWM) - Gerrard (BBM-S)
Sturridge (IF-A) - Coutinho (T) - Moses (IF-A)
Suarez (CF-A)

I cannot get Suarez to score (2 in 12)! :D

Any tips so I can stop conceding so much?
 
I'm Liverpool and am having my best game in years, I play a 5-3-2 with wingbacks, Sturridge as a poacher and Suarez as a complete forward. Coutinho in AM as an advanced playmaker.
