******* Official Football Manager 14 Thread *******

How are people finding this now? I haven't played in a while and came back to it today - just won a penalty shootout 33-32

I'm highly addicted again after a little break myself, there's a few silly things with the ME but I find it's generally a lot better than it was. I have so many games from sales to play through but I always end up back on FM :o

I've lost 3 games in 33 with Udinese, absolutely stomping Serie A :D

i just had game where in extra time i was losing 2-1 and at this point I had 51 shots, 16 on target, hit the woodwork 6 times and 2 ccc and they had 11 shots, 5 on target and 1 ccc. ended up winning 3-2 but I'm struggling to fully believe in this game.

I'm a wee bit confused by this. I don't know what has changed in scouting since the latest patch. If I scout a player with a 20/20 scout, and he is 4 star, you would expect the scout to say, definite purchase wouldn't you? But sometimes my scout reports that although a player is quality, he says he is not a worthwhile signing. Any ideas why this is? Could it be because I am playing as Aberdeen, and some of these players are too expensive? I don't know what else it could be.

The scouting system looks at all stats so potential stats, current stats. Also the lower rep team you are the higher rated **** players you'll get.

I most use a mix of scouts and FM genie for my scouting requirements. Also tho some players might not have the greatest attributes but out perform those that do.

I.e. Valencia has rubbish stats compared to some other wingers, nani, however Valencia is a sold performer.

Getting far too many bad offside calls.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not offside here (This disallowed my equaliser to I rage quit)

Obviously the ball has left his foot, so my player (blue) has ran with it, so it looks closer than what it was)

Got bored of playing conventional formations, literally just threw my players about.

Up 3-0, feels kinda pointless :p, I don't think the tactics are playing a massive part, other than I simply have the best team currently in Skrill Premier.

Tactics aren't completely useless, but as I have said a few pages back, if you suddenly jump into an AI team part way through the season you will see that the AI doesn't use them at all. Everything is set to 'balanced'. So it's simply down to the quality of the player. Maybe a few 'shouts' towards the end of a game. Just to add, I don't think the AI uses team instructions either, although they do use different formations.

The biggest thing I have found asides the player is using shorter play in summer and direct play in rain/winter season.

Sorry this might not be the right place but didn't want to create a new thread. Does anyone play this on a laptop? I'm working away at the moment and looking at buying a laptop to play some FM with. Not a massive budget say about £600. Thanks in advance

Yes you just need a decent CPU, onboard graphics is fine. If you are looking just to play FM14 you don't really need to spend that much.

But for £600 i'd imagine you'd get a i5/i7 and GT 650M combo no problem.

Got an annoying little bug. Every screen refresh or so, my unavailable or on loan players keep appearing on my list. Even when I turn the option off! Just a little thing, but annoying as hell lol...

Anyone else notice a large number of near-post goals since the last patch? Both for me and the AI, at least one a match, a shot from one corner of the area that goes in at the near post.
