******* Official Football Manager 14 Thread *******

Since the last patch goals from corners are far less for me. When the game was first released it was crazy and every other corner resulted in a goal. Corners in general must have been tweaked - they feel a lot better than before. I like the way some fire straight across the pitch they get booted so hard.
 
Been playing a month or so now, took on Bradford (same team I had in FM13), managed to win League 1 first season with 24W, 11D, 11L, then managed to scrape through the championship as runner up using Nakhi Wells as my main striker before selling him once I hit the Prem and bought Kelvin instead. First season in the Prem somehow managed to get 5th and then second season in the Prem I went on a 12 match winning streak to end up winning the league by 1 point on the final day of the season. 3rd season in the Prem ended up 2nd, 8 points behind City and just about to start the 4th season in the Prem.

I play a 4-1-2-1-2 with

GK
LB as WB - Auto
CD as CD - D
CD as CD - D
RB as RB - Auto
DM as BWM - D
CM as BBM - S
CM as DLP - S
AM as T - A
ST as AF - A
ST as CF -A

Attacking and Fluid (was on control until I started doing well in the Prem).

Have some odd results where I should hammer the opposition and don't and some where I should lose and win.

Very frustrating game but also so annoyingly addictive.
 
Anyone know how to remove the background/stadium pics from the game? I can't actually read the text very well due to it clashing with the pics. I prefer it plain. But I can't find any option to disable them?

Aren't the background pics part of the skin? So if you're running the default skin you'd have to find the image files in the skin and delete them, move them or rename them so that the skin can't see them or perhaps edit the skin's XML file so it doesn't call the files.

That or find a third party skin, if you haven't already, and edit that as above.
 
It was 13.99 a few days ago thry mustve put it back to full whack. Just bought it at asda for 20 quid. Life gone.
 
I had a few drinks whilst playing football manager last night. Turned on the computer this morning to find that I have signed fabregas (it says 4.6mil in transfer history eek) and Hamsik (32mil) for west ham in 2015.

I am liking how the transfer system seems to be working in this fm. I have noticed that clubs make under value offers for players who have contracts which will expire the following year. I notice this because i made a shortlist of all the decent players who i would like to sign on a bosman, and noticed that instead they were all sold in the summer.

Fabregras made only 9 appearances in 2014-15 season and 15 appearances the season before, i am not sure if he wasnt been picked because the manager preferred other players, or if it was due to injury - he was out for 3 months with a torn hamstring in both seasons and his attributes seem to have gone down. Probably will keep getting injured for me as well!

With Hamsik, i believe his contract may have only had a year or two to run, hence i was able to get him for a price close to his valuation rather than a multiple of 2 or 3 that i have paid in the past.

also bought lewis holtby from Tottenham- looking at him this morning I am not sure why!
 
Hi guys,

Does anyone here play FM14 on a 15" laptop with a 1080p screen? How do you find it, as I'm currently using the wifes laptop but this only has a 768p screen, and some screens in FM need a better resolution but I'm then not sure if the text will be easily readable with a small screen and high res?

Wondering if I should be looking a 17" 1080p screen instead?

The screen scales depending on the resolution. If you lower the resolution, it removes a few boxes for you.

I game with FM on my 11.6" 1080p ultrabook, I find it fine.
 
It's playing a LOT better since 14.2.2. More reliable tactics, which actually seem to work. A few little tweaks here and there. But there are still some annoying bugs, one mentioned above which does my head in.
