Ok, I have managed to fix the issues I have had whereby I got better framerates in windowed mode than full screen. In the 3D tab of Catalyst, I changed everything to use application settings, disabled Catalyst AI, unchecked enable adaptive AA, checked the triple buffering, minimap detail level to performance and wait for vertical refresh on unless application specifies.

I have no idea how changing all that affects running the game but I can now run it in fullscreen on max with more than playable frames.

I am surprised that something like that can affect a game so much. I never even noticed that tab before. What is anybody elses settings in there? I use a 4870x2.

Did you try those settings one by one? Perhaps one of them was just the culprit?

This game is amazing, seriously one of the best or is the best racing game I've played. First time I've actually been able to play with a wheel aswell. Did the australian GP last night, qualifying and practice had nice sunny weather then race day came and it was torrential rain. Its the best attempt at rain I've ever seen. Unfortunately I finished 24th even though I was nearly 10 seconds a lap faster then everyone else. Due to rain I rear ended some one and had to do a drive through. Then I got a puncture :(

Strange at the start of the race it was running smooth then half way through it dropped to like 10fps! Any ideas why?

I currently have
X2 4400 (@ 2400mhz)
2gig ram
8800GTX

If i upgrade to
I5 760
4gig
8800gtx

it would play at ultra high wouldn't it? anyone else got similar specs?

I am running this on a I5 750@ 4 gig with 2x2 1600mhz ddr 3 and a 8800gts 640 for now until i decide what card to replace it with.

I can get around 25fps on ultra settings with 16xaf and 2xaa @ 1680x1050, you should get more as your gtx is a faster card but depends on resolution i guess also.

I'm starting a petition for getting Kunos, ISI, iRacing or even getting Geoff Crammond back and giving them the license.

:p

I would seriously love for that to happen but money talks, especially to the FIA and the above dont have the funds to bribe them.

Codemasters paid them off and obviously didnt have enough money left to complete the game :)

For those who have played rFactor...can I ask if that game is better than this, if the 2009 F1 season mods were applied?

One thing I hate about this game is that you have no idea how many seconds/minutes the guy in front or behind you is.

I'm getting between 38 and 45 fps running at 1920x1200 everything cranked up with a 460,the 768 version,coupled with 4gb ram and a e8400 o/c to 4ghz
Looking at your performance of your 8800 card, something is wrong somewhere with either my card or drivers.
I'm not even getting 60 running at 1680x1050,anybody help?

I wouldnt listen to him mate, he is clearly lying. It really annoys me when people lie about what performance they get in games as it is so unhelpful for others.

At 1920x1080 all settings as high as they can go with 4x AA and 16xaf i'm getting a pretty steady 35-40fps. Normally hovers around 40fps+ on time trials/clear tracks and may go down to 29/30 with a full screen of cars.

This is with the specs in my sig.

All very playable and to be honest it seems to depend on the track a lot. Also, interestingly, the rain effects don't seem to effect the fps i'm getting much, if at all.

Not quite.

Sony wouldn't pay Bernie Ecclestone a huge chunk of money for an exclusive licence and so Codemasters made the next best offer.

But I would concede that Codemasters rushed out a game for PSP and Wii so they could make use of the licence as quickly as possible.

A few bugs aside (non of which I have encountered yet) Codemasters have made a game that lets you drive an F1 car in the same way you see real driver doing on TV. I am playing on hardest difficulty, no assists and legend AI and the game is probably still a lot easier than the real thing. But that doesn't matter because it give the feeling of driving an F1 car and that's what I am enjoying.

I've played loads of sims in the past and sometimes I feel they are just too hard or the physics model is too harsh. Many times I felt that cars have spun in situations were thay wouldn't in real life. Now I may well be wrong and the sims I have played have been bang on acurate and I just don't have all the skills required to drive racing cars.

But since it's only a game and I game for fun then for me Codemasters have got this one bang on right.

I'm quite impressed with how they have made the cars speed accurate to what it should be. I was up in 6th (due to my excellent driving skill :p) and had Webber behind me and it was VERY tricky to hold him off ( I caved in eventually) and once he got passed me there was no way to realistically catch him again, let alone positions 1-5. Howevemr when you are at the back you can easily gain a few places every few laps over the slower teams.

One race i saw Rosberg at the back (like 19th) and he was clearly a fair bit faster than the rest of the back markers and started to overtake them. Looked good.

I know your typ your board is probly a bag of tripe and your memory came out of a dell,
You throw a 300 pound graphics card in there and expect it to perform,
You realy do make my day

I recon your just ****ed because your rig costing 3 x the cost of mine and its performing worse.
rofl lmfao pmsl lol

Comments like that really don't help.

If you are under the age of 18 I hope you become a nicer person. If you are over 18, then you really should know better.
