I'm really enjoying this even though I'm terrible at driving games! But whats up the AI speed?

I'm mean once they get ahead of you they seem to get a huge speed boost. I was doing low 1:40's on Silverstone and steadily building about a 5 second gap from the AI doing mid 1:41's. Then I mess up on Priory corner and Rosberg shoots past and proceeds to do a 1:38 on the next lap?

You will find that if they are running rich with fuel they will find a massive boost. It isn't just when they are ahead though, it is just that if they are directly behind you then you are probably holding them up. The biggest problem is that they don't seem to be affected by high fuel load.
 
I can't see how i was holding them up, was pulling away over 1 sec a lap but it's possible.

Can I change engine maps during the race?
 
I tried the demo and found small line adjustments difficult with the pad when at high speed. Is there some adjustment available to help there?

As other's said 360 pad is big improvement on keyboard especially this year. CM have spent lot of time to improve the game for pad users this year.
 
You really do have to plan your race smart if you’ve got fuel and tyre wear turned on, especially if it rains.

You can easily lose vital seconds if you try and eek out a few extra laps on tyres that have gone off, run out of fuel or even pit at the wrong moment if you think it’ll rain..

I was at Budapest last night, chances of rain… I stayed out past my pit window in a hope it would rain, by the third lap on tyres that had gone I was losing 5+ seconds a lap, it did rain, I pitted for medium rain tyres but should have gone for full wets.. I lost that race as I had no grip and had to pit again..

If I’d gone with full wets from my first stop I’d have won… Great game, not easy to win if played right..
 
The save bug has now been fixed during a update

Autosave bug – The issue some users were experiencing where saving during career play would stop functioning is now fixed

I'm getting awful fps in a race. It's starts off bad and get worse. Seemed fine in young drivers programme and then time trials. Card is a 7950, surely that should run it on high comfortably at least ?

Can they actually overtake now ? Or do they form a big massive train behind you and on the off chance one of them does try something crazy like an overtake they just plough straight into the bake of you, or forget to move as they close hit the brakes and skid all over the place.

The biggest put off for me on buying this one was 2010 and 2011 had this issue and no fix, that and the AI didnt get effected by tires or fuel. If these 3 things are fixed im in ?
 
So many bugs with the Safety Car it's unbelievable.

I'm in 2nd, guy in 1st slams on brakes, I brake hard, guy in 3rd rams me, pushes me PAST guy in 1st, I GET A DRIVE THROUGH for overtaking under Safety Car. :D

sounds incredibly realistic, were you driving as Lewis, was the guy behind Maldonado?
 
Well I got this after seen some of the positive feedback. Purchased it yesterday did the young drivers programme which was a right chore, then did some time trials and was enjoying it.

Tried a quick race had poor fps. Come on it tonight 1st thing when I try load up is save corrupt. :(

This is what I love about this title. I was a few seconds a lap quicker than the AI in Singapore, but took way too much life out of my tyres on the first stint meaning I had no grip and got caught really quickly. Only just finished ahead in the end. Rain is a whole other ball game :D
