***Official Formula One 2012 Thread***

Today sees patch #5 available on Steam for PC versions of F1 2012.

This update addresses the following issues:

Reduced the likelihood of the player getting a penalty when involved in a collision with an AI car.
Further reduced the chance of rain for all tracks and greatly reduced it for Sakhir (Bahrain).
Fixed Catalunya so that it’s no longer possible to cut corners to gain an advantage. The PC Catalunya Time Trial Leaderboard will be reset after the patch goes live, this will either be done Friday evening or Monday morning (UK time).
Fixed an issue where the engine could be damaged or destroyed when using a flashback.
Reverted the changes to the force feedback from patch 4. While this improved some wheels, it was to the detriment of others.
Added an option to delete profiles.

The fixes listed above and those specific to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game are also being tested and verified on those platforms. As these versions require additional submission and authorisation from both Microsoft and Sony the release date for these will follow a little later than the PC version.

We are working on other issues you have reported via the forums, Facebook and Twitter and are working to fix them as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please note that we are still collecting feedback via our Technical Assistance forums and do encourage you to post your issues there being sure to include as much information as possible.

Thanks for your continued feedback!

This is what I love about this title. I was a few seconds a lap quicker than the AI in Singapore, but took way too much life out of my tyres on the first stint meaning I had no grip and got caught really quickly. Only just finished ahead in the end. Rain is a whole other ball game :D

Yeah, you do need to plan your races otherwise you won't win - unless you stick the game in novice mode.. wheres the fun in that?

Had a cracking race at spa last night, Q3 it rained, so that levelled the field out. I was nowhere, 10th..!! lol Race however I put some cracking laps in but the Mclaren boys took a 1 - 2 but 8th helped my championship challange lol

good game, and yes another patch.. 5 patches since released, thats a record for codemasters..!!

Well went through the young drivers test and tried again. It's seems suzuka grinds my pc to a halt. Did a few other races where it was fine. Unfortunately I could only race bits here and there as I keep getting CTD.

Shame, what I did race was really good and a massive improvement on the last 2 games.

Maybe the patch will sort out my problems but I'm not holding my breath.

Patch 6 should be this evening (probably around 6 ish as usual)

Today sees patch #6 available on Steam for PC versions of F1 2012.

This update addresses the following issues:

Made Pro level AI quicker so that the time gap to Legendary AI is smaller. We’re keen to get community feedback on this change.
Fixed the weather system so that
Cars will no longer start the race on the wrong tyres.
Cars will need to change to intermediate tyres when it has been raining with sufficient intensity.
Fixed a crash in Co-Op when disconnecting on the results screens.
Fixed an issue where the point’s totals on the Constructors Championship table were incorrectly doubled.
Medals awarded in season challenge now update the player statistics correctly.

As these versions require additional submission and authorisation from both Microsoft and Sony the release date for these will follow a little later than the PC version.

They're feeding more, smaller patches - that probably aren't tested as well (e.g. backing out some of the FFB issues from P4 to P5) - rather than fewer larger patches.

I prefer it this way :)

does steam download the updates for u. Or do i have to get them myself from somewhere

check your steam settings, mine are set to auto update, also if you browse to your steam/steamapps/common/f1 2012 folder the game exec will show you the version number if you hover over it,mine is 1.2.5.0,fully updated, unless another patch has been released overnight.
Oh,if anyone's interested,there are quite a few mods available at racedepartment.com.

Thanks for the heads up on the 360 controller chaps.

Invested in a pas and its transformed the game, great fun and finally getting some good laps.

Im using settings from this thread : http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/xbox-360-controller-advanced-settings-pc.56619/

Makes the pad a lot less twitchy.

Currently half way through Season challenge on easy mode. When i've done this what do I do next? Turn off some driver assists and do the Career?

Blooming irritating whatever it is, you can see it in cockpit view, no camera in there

Isn't this just a phenomenon of real life? Like if you look at a cars wheel travelling at high speed, they either look like are going very slowly or backwards?

Weird that you find it irritates you when it's so common with cars.

I wish they would release a patch that stopped the front tyres look as though they keep stopping and go into reverse

Never seen that in movies then I take it, this is a very common issue with wheels when filmed etc.. Its quite normal, doesn't bother me at all.

Only got four races in a 20 race championship left to go - really enjoyed it and had some epic races even though its been against the AI.

Game still has a few problems, hopefully they patch these out soon - maybe not but I'm enjoying the game.
