**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

I set the BCLK to 100.10 last night and still had a freeze...it's been more frequent recently and the only other thing I changed was disabling HPET.

Re-enabled HPET and will see what happens :/

Edit: Mainly freezes during games but had one freeze in Windows whilst someone was speaking on mumble.

What bios does this board come with ordering it tomoz with my ivy. But little woriried that may have to update bios to get ivy chip to run. I dont have another intel chip to use.

ALL ITEMS ABOVE BRAND NEW FROM O/C UK

For the initial O/S and SSD install, I have left the GTX680 out for now till machine booted with WIN 7 O/S installed

All 4 4GB RAM slots have been populated

To take RAM out i have to remove the rather large CPU cooler

I have the 128GB SSD fitted (with new 6GB SATA cable) and when connected to port 0 (top white port) SATA3 port and power connected I cannot get into EFI/BIOS

Once I disconnect SSD I can get into EFI/BIOS ok

When this occurs the LED display onboard the MOBO reads / displays either AE or A9

Can anyone help?

BIOS version installed is F4 (as it came with MOBO)

Crucial SSD will be the firmware version 0309 as stated on O/C website where I purchased it from

Want to get OS installed onto brand new SSD but once it is connected I cannot get into EFI/BIOS

Please help

First things to try would be...

try a different port.
try different sata and power cables
boot to BIOS with out the SSD attached and check all the settings to do with the storage controllers.
check SSD on another PC
flash BIOS to latest official at minimum.
flash firmware on ssd.
log a call with gigabyte

What would these setting be?

What would I be looking for?

Assume you're using Port 0 SATA3 as its the first Intel port?

(1) Enter SATA setup and disable hot plug for all the SATA ports (bottom of page 52, motherboard manual).

(2) Set Boot order (page 53). I usually put UEFI first but it probably wont appear if you're setting up without the drive. You can set to boot from SATA DVD first as that should work ok (put the windows DVD in!).

(3) While you;re on that page make sure Boot ROM is set to EFI compatible

(4) Peripherals (page 55 onward) I usually disable what I don't use (like 1394 firewire, PXE etc but for troubleshooting just make sure that SATA is enabled and SATA mode selection is set to AHCI. It's worth diabling the Marvell controller further down ont his page if you're not using it.

The above should get you to boot as far as I can see (I'm doing this from work so can;t see my own bios) - if not then it seems like a hardware fault or incompatibility and you should follow chaosophy's advice and start a full troubleshoot routine.

Hi guys

Finally got into the EFI/BIOS, what a nightmare that was

Updated MOBO and SSD to latest BIOS/Firmware respectively

Then had to keep unplugging the monitor and with monitor detached then restarting and hitting del key to load into EFI/BIOS, then connected the monitor and EFI/BIOS then displayed on my screen, very strange wouldnt display with montior attached on boot up

Anyways, I have loaded 64Bit Win 7 Home Premium and am currently installing the latest MOBO drivers

All of these are loading OK with the exception of the Onboard GPU driver, I have the latest driver (as identified on front page of this thread) but when I try to install I get the message:-

"This computer does not meet the minimum requirments for installing the software"

No idea why when I am getting these scores:-

I have not disabled the onboard GPU in EFI/BIOS (originally had it on auto, now set it to enabled) and have the GTX 680 fitted but no driver installed for that card yet

The monitor is currently plugged into the GTX680

I have updated windows also

Anyone know why I cant install the onboard MOBO Intel VGA Driver v15.26.8.64.2696 GPU driver?

Regards

Lew

You can only install the Intel VGA drivers if you remove the GTX 680.

Does anyone know of a beginners guide to overclock with this motherboard? I would feel more confident if i had a dummys guide infront of me ;)

The first result from google:

seems like for more experienced users but anyway better this than none :D

@all having hangs/freezes on this mobo - have you tried with F13 bios? if no luck then beta F13x is also available

F13x is for GA-Z77-D3H mobos,NOT for the Z77-UD5
you know that someone can brick board with your suggested bios ??

I installed the Intel drivers fine with my 7950 plugged in. I disabled the Intel gpu, installed windows, then the Intel chipset drivers. Then re-enabled the Intel gpu and installed the drivers on the next reboot.

I had my 7970 in when I set mine up as well.
Had my monitor on DVI-D and TV on HDMI, both on the 7970.
Set primary to PEG and Integrated to enabled.
Set 1024MB for Intel GFX mem.
Can't remember off hand which order I installed the drivers tbh but I would have at least done the inf/mobo drivers before either of them and then once both the ATi and Intel gfx drivers where done, installed the Lucid s/w.
Seemed to work fine for me.

The only odd issue I do have come to think of it is I can't seem to bring up the control panel for the Intel gfx. I run the Intel Control Centre and have the option for 'Intel HD graphics' and the 'Intel RST' applications but the graphics one does not open.

Viewing task manager shows 'gfxui.exe' load up but then it closes straight away. Wondering if this is because I don't have the monitors plugged into it?

Can anyone else open it? And am I missing much in the way of useful settings not being able to load it?
