Edit: Little tip if you have razor lycosa you may want a backup keyboard, this motherboard does not like the keyboard.

Since i put BCLK to 100.1 i am having no issues apart from the ticking sound from the PSU. When you put your ears to yours is there any sound eminating from the unit Paul?

I have 15TB as i have been buying external hard drives since 2007. I find it hard to delete stuff :P

Hi Atheos

Have replied to you via Trust email

No, not a whisper from the PSU I have, definately no ticking or mechanical noise whatsoever

Seems as though yours has a mechanical fault, possibly something touching the moving parts internal to the unit

In fact, I am amazed at how "SILENT" the rig is

I have the case fully open as am awaiting some AKasa Silent Black Apache 120mm fans next week and another SSD and 1TB HDD to install (definately won't be cathching you up with 15TB though :D)

With the case open, I sit about 12" away from the unit, it is at head height, and I cannot hear a whisper from it, I have to check the MOBO LED's to make sure its still running

It is totally silent in the P280 case

I am amazed

Best rig I have ever owned

Yeh, when you apprach the limit of timings or need a touch more volts the RAM can look ok through all tests, but fail on a cold boot. Mine did that when I tried 2133 tight timings at 1.425 volts :)

Spent most of last night trying to work out how on earth to get ultra iso to run just refused to. In the end after about 4 hours researching I worked out need Intel rapid storage technology installed even if you don't use a raid setup.

Due to keyboard problems decided to get a new one (lycosa is about 4 years old anyways) gone for a

As for overclocking I have decided to run everything at stock until a later date. Reason being my new rig is destroying everything I throw at it.

you should email gigabyte directly or post here(link below) saying your keyboard/mouse incompatibilty,it will get passed onto the gigabyte bios engineers and they can include it into newer beta bios's,they are pretty quick in responding, saves going out to buy new keyboards ect,its just a bios compatibility problem that can be easily fixed

you can post here or email gigabyte.uk directly

be sure to test with both usb3 and usb2 ports and use the very latest drivers for usb3 as older ones were causing problems

Im not to fussed tbh my lycosa has been on its last leggs for about 6 months now. Touch panel stopped working keys are starting to die on me. + the wife paid for the new keyboard for my birthday present.

I will still email them tho as may help some1 else who has the problem.

Connected my front USB 3.0 ports on my case, they work perfectly when updating the BIOS, the USB 2.0 ports at the front don't, only differences is the USB 2.0 ports are connected via a cable to the motherboard, the USB 3.0 have a cable running through to the back ports, all work fine in Windows 7 anyway no big deal.

I still need to run prime95 stability tests set at 4.8GHz been busy messing about with graphics cards, will do it over night and report back.

Also, Intel LAN Driver v17.1 *NEW* >> Click Here

The only difference between version 17.0 and 17.1 is 17.1 has an auto install setup, 17.0 you had to manually update the driver via device manager either way they are both newer than the driver on the Gigabyte website/disc.

Not had a crash since using 100.1 BCLK, but yes the BIOS notes mentioned compatibility fixes.

I updated BIOS to the latest beta last night and it was stable for an evening so I might try BCLK on AUTO tonight.

We will all be interested to hear the result of using AUTO.

I am going to give the PC another day or two on 100.1 and if all good then try AUTO myself.
