Thanks for that Bar, yeh mate im using a Vapor X 7970. I presume that explains why i'm not seeing a a splash screen ? Strange isn't it that by changing to a different brand of GPU allows you to see a bios splash screen, wonder what causes it ?

For me if I use the DP as a connection I will never get a BIOS screen but if I use DVI I then get one and I'm then able to get into the BIOS.

Just remembered that, for some reason I do not know, if I also use DP my desktop seems to get messed around when restored from sleep. Windows are reduced in size and icons are rearranged. It happened with my GTX670 and does the same with my GTX970. No problem with DVI and the 27" 1440p monitor.

When i had the official bios on from the Gigabyte site the bios screen would display without a problem on Dual link DVI via the 7970 AMD card, i was previously using the official F15q bios.

Ive tested this tweaktown bios version 16g on both displayport and dual link DVI and it doesn't display a bios splash screen on either for some reason, its not a major problem as i can still get into the bios but obviously i don't get the splash screen prompt.

Early impressions of the 16g bios are pretty good, it seems to be very stable. Touch wood ive not had that annoying "Power surge on USB port" error so far.

Just a pitty for whatever the reason is the bios splash screen still doesn't appear, its not the end of the world as you can still get into the bios without a problem by pressing the usual keys.

That's appreciated Wazza

I'll probably leave the 16g bios on for now and see how it goes, its not a big issue in not having the bios splash screen, i'd take stability over having a nice splash screen at start up any day. Ive bookmarked your link so its an option if i need it.

When was that bios released that you post the link for ? Is that a stable one or a beta ?

I thought that the F16G BIOS.....

Uploaded: 2014-01-13

was newer than the modified F16 BIOS....

Uploaded: 2013-12-26

I thought that the modified BIOS was based on an older F16 point release and not the G variant..?

IIRC, and it was awhile back, I tried out the modified BIOS in one of those mad moments as nothing at all was wrong with my ultra stable build. I had some real stability issues with the default settings, never mind trying to get my 3570k back to 4.4 where it was and is now again.
It might have been resolvable but my first initial findings put me off that much I just went back to 16G and calm and peace returned :D

A bit slow at learning at times but if it works I am tending to leave things alone these days..!

Agree, the dual BIOS feature is excellent and, if the board does not have a physical switch, the ability to use key and button combinations to boot from the second BIOS is useful.

I remember bricking a DFI board (just from a flash that somehow borked) and having to order another BIOS chip and then hot flash the old one, but at least the board had socketed chips to allow you to do that.

Vimes, you said your using 16g or have used it.

Do you get a bios splash screen ? What type of GPU are you using and what type of connection ?

I have disabled the splash screen in the 16G BIOS but if you mean do I get the POST screen etc then yes I do.

I have a 970GTX GPU and it has to be connected to my 1440p monitor by DVI because if I use a DP connection then I never get a BIOS screen or any pre Windows boot screens etc. This was the way with my 670GTX and my previous monitors when using the DP connection.

The issue being the DP port etc, others noted this in the DGM monitor thread that I remember going back a while now.
