***Official GTX 670 thread***

7970 isn't going to reduce 670 prices, its more like the other way around.

AMD need to make a card with out of the box performance equal to a GTX 680 to equally compete and steal any thunder, and yet they are taking a very long time to do that.

That doesn't really make sense, nvidea can raise price at the minute while demand exceeds supply but as soon as new tech comes out with higher or equal specs they'll have no option but to lower prices to undercut the new amd cards just as the 680 undercut amd on launch

Using a power monitor plug, obviously the efficiency of the psu will effect true system use, (corsair hx 850w).

Just noticed my typo lol. Never mind a new gpu, more need of an eye test.

Are there any of these available that are cheaper than the £16 one at amazon?

I've got a single socket one that cost £12.50 but that was in 2006.

I can't believe more people haven't heard of these devices, especially after reading hardware reviews where they test power draw for the entire rig :)

When i got mine, i went round the house testing all sorts of things lol, tv's, kettle, microwave etc. They certainly are useful to pc owners, i opted for that one as i could monitor draw of other components such as monitor and speakers. Though only the pc itself is hooked up to it now.

I just use an over-cable clamp that I 'borrow' from work when needed :p

Anymore windforce owners come out of the woodwork yet? found the memory to be very very clockable :D

I understand your point, but it was worth it for me though as all I wanted was a silent card, I'd easily take a 10% performance loss for it and pay a premium, I imagine the TOP edition runs hotter as well and may ramp the fans up more.

I really like the design but the non-TOP classification bothers me. I suspect these are going to be the ones which were intended to be TOP but didn't make the grade. So you end up with premium cooler sat on an average chip.

Apart from the single socket unit, I also have an OWL Electricity monitor that has a clamp at the fuse box so I can monitor the usage for the entire house. I've adjusted the cost settings on the monitor and over the last 6 months it has estimated more or less my actual monthly electricity bill, give or take a £1.

I've calculated how much my rig uses on a per hour basis then extrapolated that (very roughly) across a month and then a year and it was a fair bit lower than I expected :)

As for Windforce owners, mine one is arriving tomorrow. Are just using afterburner to oc your one?

Surely that won't work unless you only clamp the live wire?

Incidently I use a Watson that when you tip the unit over it over it shows your current usage in £££ in huge bright LEDs. Scarey when the tumble dryer and kettle are on . I can exceed the readout's 10kW limit easily, I've tried :D.

Back on topic any 670 phantom owners here? I'll have to trawl back through this thread I guess.

I think the phantom has only just come in to stock today, can't remember seeing any posts here about it, but don't let me stop you flicking through >70 pages :)

Do you run Diablo 3 with vsync enabled? Cause my reference doesn't even hit 80c in Diablo 3.

I use D3Doverider to force v-sync with triple buffering.

All this gpu stuff has mentally tired me out tbh, sometimes I think was it really worth it, If I'm not content by the end of the week I'm just gonna whack it on MM cheap and go back to the 570, too much stress trying to find the right GPU, one is too noisy, one is too hot etc.

<grabs beer from fridge>

My PC is supposed to be an enjoyable hobby, not a stress pit.

That's strange, mine reach 74 C with fan on default, never more than 54%

What case? ambient temps?

My Asus gets pretty toasty in Diablo 3, just hit 80c with the fan @ 65%, still quiet though, I took the side of my PC and it only dropped to 76C, core seemed to stay around 1097Mhz.

Ambient room temp of 23.5c.

This just doesnt sound right :(

The KFA2 is better than the Asus then.

What are your heaven temps? Surely Diablo 3 cant be any higher than heaven.
