***Official GTX 670 thread***

Its a 6x0 series problem afaik.

This. It effects all 6*0 cards, and Nvidia have said (Note: likely - somehow, which points to them not actually knowing)
We are able to replicate issue. Only occurs on GTX 600 series. It is likely some how caused by polling code in our drivers since it occurs on a cycle
The worrying thing is the vagueness portrayed by the use of the word "should"

and should be fixed in a future driver.
This means it might not be fixed by a driver?

Correct.

Currently pricing up some 7970's :(

I shouldn't have issues with something as simple as vsync with a card that costs so much.

Well ignoring how noisy the card is for the time being with the fan on 80%

Core + 100 = 1197
Memory + 370 = 6750

Doesn't appear to be too bad so far

Which card is that JamesM?

The itch to try 3d Vision was too much so just picked up a Windforce 670 and the 3d Vision 2 kit. Hoping the difference in performance from my 7970 isn't noticeable.

Thats the bogo standard KFA2 with the fan on max to keep the temps down as much as possible.

Have just tried +110 core and the card reaches 70 degrees and starts throttling :( think that's as far as I can go with the standard cooling. Will try and reseat the cooler tonight to see if that helps a bit but eventually I'll stick it under water to keep it quiet.

Have found Nvidia's live chat which opens in around 15mins, going to see what they say, if the eta for the stutter fix can't be mentioned or is an age away then its going back unfortunately :(

Ah, is that the reference cooler KFA2?

Also, the temps, are they in Heaven, or general gaming?

Yeah the reference cooler and card.

That was just in Heaven then, i'm at work at the moment so trying to have a quick blast of BF3 is tricky with the boss walking around :p

I've emailed Gigabyte support about the boost issues to see what they say, as I doubt I'd get a direct response from Nvidia on the issue (plus I can't find where support tickets go?).

I have until Wednesday night to decide. Its all well and good that I can breeze through games like BF3, but playing something on the lower end of the scale is becoming frustrating. Even Arkham City can be a pain as when I switch the the map or something the clocks drop then go back into the game it stutters as the clocks raise.

Gigabyte tech support desk is AWFUL!

The RMA dpt is good, i'd suggest emailing [email protected] and asking for a tech support phone number

Really impressed with the 670! Great upgrade from a 460 1gb and incredibly silent too! (the Gig Windforce model)

I got it mostly to play a heavily modded Skyrim which the 460 was really struggling with, and it cuts through it nicely :)

Is the stutter you mentioned regarding VSync and VSync only?

Its hard to be 100% sure, as it effects some games with an artificial v-sync in place, for example arkham city will never go higher than 60fps while in game (will bench 140+) regardless of v-sync setting, same for Fifa 12. I have a V-sync of 120 set in BF3 which it never has any effect on as the clocks never change unlike the above games. STALKER SOC (modded) with a 120 v-sync also acts normally as the clocks never change.

I'm thinking its more boost related than V-sync. Before 'Boost' came about we had idle clocks & 3D clocks, 3D application launched it would stick at 3D clocks, with this boost feature the clocks are floating depending on load and I have a hunch this is what is causing the stutter.

Nothing can be worse than EA :o

Well Nvidia are trying bless them :o

So far i'm just getting scripted replies. Try a new driver etc...Also telling me boost is a permanent fixture and will not have a disable option in favour of a static clock in the future.

I always get a bit of stuttering in Heaven, I thought that was normal?

I'm the opposite, I never get stutter in Heaven or BF3 as the clock speed stays at the same speed all the time, its games that don't require so much grunt that are suffering.
