***Official GTX 670 thread***

Had mine for a bit cheaper in fairness. Not trying oc yet, but out of the box very happy with the results:

Make & Model: Palit Jetstream
Best Boost clock: 1150.2
Temp: 75c
Noise: 54 % fan Audible at full load but it isn't a bad noise if that makes sense
FPS 72.4
Score 1824
Min FPS 27.8
Max FPS 167.4

I have since turned my intake fans back on so hoping for better temps. Really happy with the drop in overall temp though playing things like starcraft 2 and diablo 3 in comparison to my 570. Lower power consumption a bonus too!

Just been checking the fan noise under manual control on the windforce as ive left it on auto. Upto 60% its very quiet to me. Once above 60 it does become pretty noticeable. When maxed out it is loud no doubt, but still nowhere near as loud as my 470's were at 70%.

Agreed, though fully maxed out and running games or benchmarks, I never saw any temp over 61c or fan over 39% (in a Silverstone FT02) all auto fan profile :)

I noticed the same at a similar stage, anything over the 55-60% mark became noticeable.

Seen 67c earlier in bf3, normally 61c on auto fan, it's been pretty hot over here today. And my shinobi xl isnt the best case for airflow. Still pondering wether or not to put my rig back into my Lian Li A70F. Cpu would also benefit as it runs 7c lower in that case, 73c max compared to 80c in current case, (under LinX load).

I'm planning on ordering a GTX 670 Gigabyte Windforce tonight but I'm getting the pre order jitters. Can anyone convince not to go through with it?

My current card is a X1900Xt, so i don't upgrade graphics card very often. I'm hoping this card will allow me to be playing most games at my 1080p resolution for quite a long time. Are the apparent stuttering problems likely to be fixed by drivers? The rest of my system is sandybridge with plenty of ram.

Am I making the right choice or should I hold of?

well i think i was "unlucky" with my windforce, i am concluding that the gpu doesn't want to go over 1200, temps & noise are reasonable am getting ~60c @ ~50% fan speed. can get memory up to +675, max FPS was 75 in Heaven. will probably only be playing diablo 3 for quite some time just need to buy it, roll on pay day :)

am not unhappy and cba to mess around DSRing just think I could've been happier lol :)

Unlike my 570 which seems to only benefit from core overclocking, both the memory and core with the 670 seem to benefit equally (although less noticable gains)

If I increased core 10 percent with the 570 that would equal approx 10 percent extra fps in heaven. Increase core 10 percent on the 670, only 5 percent more fps, got to increase the memory also to get the most out of it. I find it funny that some 670 reviews say they only increased the core because that's what gives performance increase , not surprised to see such small gains in their overclock results. No idea how professional reviewers could not notice something which I figured out almost instantly :S

I'm starting to think I made a mistake with these two phantoms. I have the same FT02 case as you with 2 670s and my temps are out of control, at stock.

Taking Heaven as a standard, at stock the primary card hits on average a max temp of 88c and max fan speed of 87%. The secondary card gets to a max temp of 76c, max fan speed of 66. It's not the individual cards at fault; I swap their positions and those temps remain relative to their position i.e. the card in the primary position is always at most 15c higher than the other one . Earlier this evening with the high ambient temp the primary card hit 92c, fan speed 90%. This is well too hot for me and is unacceptable. Additionally forget even adding any overclock!

I think it's down to the fact that the phantom doesn't really expel much air out of the case, but around it. That's why I'm surpirsed you are having such good temps as the gigabyte card does the same. The FT02 does a good job in directing the flow but not enough to stop one card feeding the other hot air from itself. Looking through the manual of the FT02 it states "when choosing a graphics card, we recommend models that have a fan blowing exhaust air to the rear slot, this will ensure smooth and efficient ariflow within the FT02 for maximum cooling performance". Now I know why!

Here's a question - when running SLI, does the primary card have additional work to do to cause it to run hotter? Also, in an attempt to control the temps I tried all the fans of the FT02 on max, little change. Put a piece of card between the cards, little change - but I did notice how hot the back of these cards get! I mean seriously "can't touch it for long even through cardboard" hot.

The crux of this is post is that I think to run SLI 670s you need single fan exhaust style coolers. Shame the stock cooler is so meh. Anyone have simillar or differing opinions or experiences?

I'm weighing up my options at the moment.

What's your motherboard, how much space between the 2 slots? I had 570's in sli, one exhaust and one which dumps heat into the case and I found it harder to keep the temps down when I had the exhaust one on top.

With an extra 10 percent fan speed on the top card I was able to keep the temps on both cards the same after running heaven

I used to run windforce cooler 460's in a second X58 rig, due to poor board spacing and case airflow, the temps were hitting 96c on the top card and 89c on the bottom one. In my main rig i had gtx 470's, theese are notoriously hot cards. But they ran a lot cooler due to the fan exhausting out of the case.

The motherboard is a gigabyte P67-UD7. Due to the phantom's size they are fitted in the far right and far left PCIE slots, a fair distance apart.

The 670 on the left is the cooler running one. Another reason for running warmer is the P67 chipset heat sink is right under the right 670.

I think that case is primarily designed for exhaust cards. Try disabling that fan blowing directly under it but probably won't make a difference. Odd that you have temps that high.

Nvidia have denied the recall rumors.

Still going to return my card, someone is going to get a beast of a clocker from a b grade card.

I've actually been watching the b-grade section for the past week or two and for all the talk of people sending 600's back I have not seen a single one relisted.
So they are either going straight back to the manufacturers (super secret recall move), no one bought theirs from here or they lied and never sent it back?

I ended up selling my card on the mm, but Gibbo did say samples he tested would be going into new built complete systems, so perhaps they are keeping the dsr returns for that reason?
