***Official GTX 670 thread***

it will definitely make it quieter :D

testing on my one shows that I can get a higher clock if I can keep the temps down which currently also means unacceptable noise, so yes I'm considering the same thing when I go SLI

Yeah likewise. My card seems to clock pretty well but as soon as the temps reach 70 degrees it starts to throttle. Even with the cooler at 80% speed it doesn't stop it and is rather loud.

Not a major issue as I game with headphones but still, something I'd like to try and improve on especially since the rest of my system is under water.

Wow, went from a 7950GT to the Gigabyte Windforce. Absolutely mindblowing, the latest cards I've seen in real life have been the 8800GTX too, these cards are HUGE! :O

+100 on the GPU Offset
+740 on the Mem Offset.

Boosts to 1288mhz now. Awesome!

Done another test on 1:1 Fan Curve with my Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce OC, not bad considering it's like Barbados outside at the moment.

So which is the one to get at the moment then? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these and from what i've seen most of them can clock quite well but which are silent?

Ideally I want cheap as poss but i'll happily pay extra ~£60 for more silent card which I think leaves me with no choice other than the DirectCU II ?

The windforce is pretty silent too.

what do you mean by 1:1 fan curve - is that simply the auto fan setting or a specialised fan setting - is that on air as well.
I can just set my card on normal auto and it's quiet as a mouse, does not get above 47% fan speed = SILENT! with the heat wave temps are higher than the norm.

Yeah, just set your fan curve - to be honest the basic auto does a good enough job, it's just this damn heat we are having - my bedroom has the highest Ambient °C in the house - see below 1:1 =

Fan Speed 20% = Temp 20°C
Fan Speed 30% = Temp 30°C
Fan Speed 40% = Temp 40°C etc etc.

Decided to pay slightly extra on the ASUS TOP edition. Mostly due to being fussy about overclocking and getting it wrong.. and apparently it has the margain over the regular ASUS one for overclocking should I go down that route. Then again that's IF I get a good card.

thanks

Is there any difference between Asus DirectCu and Gigabyte Windfore in terms of noise? :)

the asus is a lot quieter under load vs the gigabyte but your temps will be around 5-8c higher at around 74c vs 65c for the Gigabyte

gigabyte one is still quiet tho even when fan ramps up you hear it but its not a bad noise just hear the air

of course all these things will vary in your machine vs mine with different system fans etc etc

Asus = poorest rma known to man

err. Not too sure about that one.

My P8P67 Deluxe ended up with the predicted Sata failure recently.

I hadn't bothered doing the swap out last year thinking I might get away with it, but it happened. So.

Contacted Asus online, had a response within within 12 hours , return to vendor and request replacement. Vendor refunded original purchase price. No questions asked. Bought a replacement Z77 with a 5 year warranty from same place. Refund money arrived in my account arrived 7 days later.

Cost to me?

Zilch.

Quite impressed actually.

Just about to order the Windforce, hope OcUK's packaging issues they had have been sorted. :)

Whats a good price to sell my 580 at? £180-190?

If you read back a fair few pages 5UB was cracking the whip about the tape-over-serial issue ;)

Used 580 (ref) prices may have dropped quite a bit with OCUK selling OEM refurb 580's for £200 :)

Depends upon the model/size to a degree. You can ask in the MM price check forum.

Theres a clue in my sig. Click the link. ;)

@pgi947, Yeah is a Ref Asus card. I had no idea they were doing that, So more like £150-160? I'm well out of touch with hardware these days, not been keeping up at all!

If you get one with the white serial number panel torn off and a few pieces of brown tape still attached...........

It wasn't mine....
