***Official GTX 670 thread***

Regarding the BIOS updates, out of interest, mine is 80.04.19.00.0F (P2004-0005)

So if i were to update it, not that i think i shall bother but i'm curious, which one would i use?

Hey guys can anyone give me a hand and give me specific settings for a specific overclocking program.

Looking to overclock my Gigabyte Windforce 3x Gtx 670 but cant get it past 1099 boost without it crashing on Unigine Heaven with this error (D3D11AppWindow::do_swap():device removed) after 5 seconds of running.

Any help would be much appreciated:)

Just to let you know if you use the VGA@BIOS utility it tells you which bios your using, and based on that you choose which bios of the two to update too!

I'm using F1 bios, so F4 bios update is for me.

That means its not a stable overclock. It's really a complete lottery to whether you've gotten a good chip or not.

Reduce in increments of 5MHz until you find one that doesn't cause you to error.

Updating BIOS won't really make a huge difference on how well your card will OvCl, if any at all..

Ok so here's a question. 7970 or 670? I can get both for around the same price. The 7970 is thisSapphire version with the custom cooler. The 670 is a reference EVGA although there's a is Palit is £10 less but the RMA procedure puts me off.

So, 7970 custom cooler or Reference 670?

If I were you i will take the custom 7970 since the 670 boost is affected by the temperature iirc and the 670 reference may not be enough to cool it if you are planning to overclock

the EVGA isn't reference - it has a bigger heatsink and a different fan making it much cooler and quieter than Nvidia reference (e.g. KFA / MSI / OCUK / Pallit etc.)

I have 2 and they are brilliant clockers and cool and quiet

OK, so the improved EVGA 670 or the customer cooled 7970? I've been on the green side of the fence for my past two cards.

Well seems I just cant overclock mine at all.

Default clock - 980 MHz
Default boost - 1059 MHz
Default memory - 1502 MHz

Mine is the Gigabyte windforce OC version and have read a few places that I should be able to RMA this card. What do you guys think ?

I doubt you can rma it for not overclocking, as its running at spec, you maybe able to rma it from place of purchase under DSR if you havent had it long. I emailed Gigabyte about my first poor overclocking one and they basically in a nut shell wouldnt help.

Done the update via the GB VGA@BIOS Tool. Very simple, was originally on F1, now running F4....

KX2hB.png

GPU-Z now reads it as 80.04.31.00.58 (P2004-0005)

I didn't notice any issues beforehand, but couldn't resist the urge to play...

Now this is most likely placebo, but i'm sure upon rebooting the display looked 'crisper' and just generally better..... Have checked my NV CP settings and its as i left it.

Placebo? Maybe, I dunno. Game time, lets see if there is a difference..... :)

I got my MSI GTX 670 Power Edition OC couple days ago and have got it too :

core clock 1228 MHz
mem clock 6634 Mhz

that is on stock voltages , i can put the volts up on this card but haven't done so yet will have a play with them in a couple days time .

1.175 is the highest you can go, unless you get a modded bios. I run my 670 at 1.21v.;)

I wonder if anyone can help me, I recently got a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X card however I have been getting some strange graphics glitches in some more intensive games. When this happens my frames stay good and my temps never go above 55C. The card is running stock.

Here's an example image from Unigin Heaven 3 benchmark on max settings linked because of image size:

and here is my precision X graph during that test:

I have no idea what the problem could be I'm not really an overclocker or anything so any help is much appreciated! :)

The first one could be due to overclocking, if you did not overclock then your card could be faulty which could be resolved with a bios update (just like my gtx460 when playing BF3), or could be RMA time... good luck
