***Official GTX 670 thread***

The first one could be due to overclocking, if you did not overclock then your card could be faulty which could be resolved with a bios update (just like my gtx460 when playing BF3), or could be RMA time... good luck

No overclock, Ill try contacting Gigabyte see what they say.

Does it make any difference to oc'ing? what card is that and how did you mod the bios? :D
My card is the Galaxy GTX 670 GC Dual fan. It's the same card as the KFA2 670 EX OC.
I got my bios modded then flashed it to my card. you gain about 40 -50mhz and maybe 2-3c in temp.
There are modded bios for all popular 670's now.

My bios has 1.21v, no throttling, fan speed goes from 20% - 100%, and board power increased(stops the throttling at 70C, and 80c)

1.175 is the highest you can go, unless you get a modded bios. I run my 670 at 1.21v.;)

MSI 670 PE has core/mem/aux voltage control. Afaik it goes up to +100mv core offset giving a software read of 1.275v~ under load.

Unless they're shipping them with a 1.175 limit now? I read nvidia are throwing a hissy-fit about it.

my bad. I thought that the MSI PE's didnt go higher than 1.175. thought there was people mad about that or something. lol

They are called sprites and happen when the core of the graphics card is working beyond what its capable of.

If that is what its doing on stock settings you unfortunately have a bad one, RMA it.

Ok thanks a lot for the info, at least I know where I stand now, Ill get on with the RMAing. :)

Yea we had afterburner 2.2.3 out on the 27th~ I think, something like that.

I read elsewhere that nvidia has forced msi to ship newer lightnings and PEs with the voltage limit enforced though. Not sure if that's true of not.

I heard that to, but people just flash the bios to the older one.

Here's a pic showing my card not throttling, and at 1.21v.

I have a gigabyte windforce 670 OC but after 6 weeks it has failed. although reading this stuff about BIOS and stability mine could've suffered from some of that, as I've had the driver restart a few times and other random minor errors. However, I'm sending it back as it can't even display the motherboard BIOS settings.

I will upgrade the BIOS once I get it back though.

^^^ Are you sure that is an actual problem with the card..?

My Asus 670 GTX Direct CU II will not display the bios screen when connected by DVI but will when connected by DP. This applies to using my DGM 27" monitor. It works fine when connected to my 22" or 24" monitor.

My Gigabyte 460 GTX would behave the same way.

For me, and many others, the issue is with the DGM monitor.

Some older or different GPU's will work fine with it and others will not work without using the DP and cable.

bios update wont give u anything guys

if chips is gold it will oc very high

my gtx 670 ftw oces without voltage tweak to 1350 mhz stable

i have 3 of them one wont even oc to 1200

so some of u will get good some bad chips

ye im sure because i was playing rfactor and screen just went black with fans running at full ,then after that no display at all on anything had card out and tryed it in my other pci-e slot and still nothing.
was working fine before that and did show bios screen etc etc, have since put a gtx 560ti 448 in my system to push me on until rma is finished and have no problems with this card so it carnt really be anything else :o

Mine has had a few driver restarts and OpenGL errors then it completely broke. When in windows it's 8bit with 640x40 resolution and Code 43 - windows unable to communicate with it. When I enter the BIOS upon boot up the menus are all screwed up and I can't read anything.

Put my old 460GTX back in and everything works perfectly.

I was on the gigabyte forums and seems that the Windforce OC card has some issues. In addition to the stability problems that the BIOS upgrade fixes (or claims to as people still say there are problems) the card won't work in a PCI-E 3.0 with 16x speed and Gigabyte have yet to resolve that.

Going to swap it...but not sure which one now! Thinking EVGA FTW card. Few of my friends rate EVGA highly.

well mine are the worst overclocking cards I ever had not even being able to handle a 25mhz overclock. Its the poorest overclock ive seen of any 670 I've seen on the net so far :(

For the Gigabyte Windforce cards, how is the warranty handled?

Do I need to register the product somewhere or is it all handled by OcUK?

I'd like to know that too, mine just arrived today, touch wood so far so good, gave it an hour on BF3 and it was epic!

Everything on Ultra, with vsync off its a constant 75-85 FPS @ 1920x1200 which is almost double I got before.
