Took the plunge and hopefully get my EVGA 580 tomorrow, yes it was a little more expensive than some other brands but the 10 year warranty and evga's support make up for it.

Noticed a massive difference going from my old 280gtx to my 295 and don't expect to see a massive difference with the 580 but I so so nearly paid out for a 480 and glad I waited.
From what I've seen in reviews this card is what fermi was meant to be.

As for waiting for ati's offerings, I was put off when I tried a 5870 a while ago and bad company amongst other games had all weird artifacts and bugs.
Probably just a driver thing and maybe a few tweaks would have sorted it, but it did end up putting me off ATI a bit :( .

Will get some benchmark results up soon as I can.

*sigh*

:(

Fancy sending me a free card :D for being a loyal customer :D :p

Is the 3D actually good/worth it?

I always just thought it was a bit of a gimmick tbh.

I had the same opinion before also but when you play a 3D game that has "Excellent" nvidia rated support for the game, it just looks gorgeous.

And you can adjust the depth of 3D, which is pretty cool, just incase it is "too 3D" for your liking :p

So the GTX580 is the same size as a GTX280 ?

If so at least I know it will fit my case, now all I got to do is win the lottery or inherit some monies :)

Or I could replace the 2 on my sticker of my GTX280 with a 5 but I doubt it will make the card any faster, lol

Thinking of buying one to replace my 4890, which brand is the best?

They will all be the same reference board. If you don't mind a 2 year warranty the palit's are cheap, gigabyte has 3 years as does Asus I believe?, zotac 5 years and evga 10 years.

I personally wouldn't bother with the overclocked models as the increase is so tiny that you could easily achieve them yourself with the tools that come with most of the cards.

:p :D

Will have to try it out my self before I commit to buying a 120Hz monitor and a 580 tbh :p

But sounds pretty good being able to adjust the 3d depth :)

So tempted now, but going to hold out and see what the ATIs card will be like :p

I have the will power unlike you lot :p

Just finished a run and got a score of 2671 for comparison.

HD4890 @ stock
QX9650 @ 3.8

Settings.

1920 x 1080
Hyur

I noticed some very big drops in performance at places.

Yeah man, with maximum dpeth it does make you feel like you're underwater. Everything just snaps into focus when you have the right depth, it is impressive.

I'm gonna wait for some bigger 3D screens (27"-30") before I wade in. (or can I wait?!) :p
