There is new tech, granted not a lot but it is there and it all adds up to a nice boost in perfomance over a 480
I'd call it a re-spin really. I think it's shame that it isn't really new at all. It would have been nice had they added some new features like 3 displays per card or something. I really can't get my head around why people are "upgrading" to these from 480s though, surely you're all gonna be losing money on what is essentially a sidegrade?
lol thats what I was thinking...
I'm feeling quite happy myself... £370 down on 2x GTX470 in SLI and even at stock they quite comfortably outperform an overclocked GTX580.
What happens when you add another 580
In order to stay within the 300 W power limit, NVIDIA has added a power draw limitation system to their card. When either Furmark or OCCT are detected running by the driver, three sensors measure the inrush current and voltage on all 12 V lines (PCI-E slot, 6-pin, 8-pin) to calculate power. As soon as the power draw exceeds a predefined limit, the card will automatically clock down and restore clocks as soon as the overcurrent situation has gone away. NVIDIA emphasizes this is to avoid damage to cards or motherboards from these stress testing applications and claims that in normal games and applications such an overload will not happen.
OC'd GTX470 in SLI isn't hideously behind OC'd GTX580 SLI and less than half the price.
Nope... -10db is perceived half, -3db is not half...8dB is actually 7x quieter. Each 3dB equals double the noise value.
3dB = X2
6dB = X4
9db = x8
12db = x16
etc...
^^^ nice! u got to overclock that puppy.
How much did u pay for it including delivery?
