****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

Please you're derailing the thread, if you have noting constructive to add then don't post, every review site will describe it as the fastest GPU on the planet. This thread is about the 580 not about you how some members don't like the fact the 580 is the fastest GPU on the planet.

Vantage with 870 core GTX480, I cant believe what the 580 gets in Vantage.

850gtx @ 900mhz - 2350mhz
i750 @ 4.06mhz

I do think the graph can be easily misinterpreted though as the 5850 results are badly represented.

My 5850 maxed out at 80 at 900/1150 with the fan at 30% maximum.
I'll test it at 65% now as I think those results are a bad representation.

That being said the cooler on the 580 is a good job :)

Edit:
Ok so my 5850 is maxing out at 57 at 65% fan speed. obviously there are some variables but it's not the picture painted by that graph.

ok my 580 has just arrived. what benchies do you guys want me to run? i don't have any benching software installed atm.

i'll do a direct comparison between zotac 480 and zotac 580, both at stock.

games I have: BC2, BO, TF2.

Giving us some proper comparisons with those games you've listed would be best. Just play the same level, in the same manner.

I think you can output to a graph with afterburner, not sure though. Fraps will dump numbers to a txt file that can be popped into a simple graph.

done a heaven 2 benchie but that's all i've got time for at the mo i'm afraid, but should serve the purpose. i've also made notes on idle and load temps.

just installed 580 now getting drivers up and running. bb in about 10-15 with results.

hmmm what to do, i take it that 950mhz on hardware canucks is the exception and not the rule  cos if they all clock like that i'm ordering one in 5mins, was planning on keeping my 480 for a while longer, at least until a zalman equipped 580 comes out anyway but seeing that has me thinking

Idle temps...... wow. what a difference! max temps, not so impressive, but still welcome. general FPS is much improved. fan speed seems to ramp very nicely now and this 580 is generally a LOT quieter than the 480 under load.

just updated with comparisons of max fan speed. another huge difference there!

Using two monitors? idle temps are high.

Looks like the exception going by the overclocks being pushed in here.

Yeah cramped case explains idle temps then, of course it's max temps that count. Why did you go from a 480 to a 580? fan noise, performance?

yep both of those reasons plus a stupidly unmissable voucher offer at the time of purchasing it that will enable me to sell my 480 and end up with a 580 + profit at the end of it all :)
