****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

think i'm stuck in 480 territory without the luck of the 311 deal, but i cant see the point in buying it new now when very shortly loads will be up on the MM for £200 :D Shame, i did want the extra performance of the GTX 580 having come from a 5870 but I think nvidia are way overpriced at £400+.

That is terrible service and mis-leading.. Was thinking to order from amazon but then was offered 2 580's from a friend at work who could not return them, bought them at a good retails discount.

temps and noise are not a problem for those willing to do a custom fan profile.

Would have to agree going from my own 480 experience, however it has to said the 580 fan noise is considerably less; 75% fan sounds about the same as 480 running 60% imho, and anything above 75% with 480 = leafblower. Although bolt that Zalman cooler on 480 and problem solved, plus I'd imagine 'almost' guaranteed to reach an 850 core overclock unless card has silly high stock vid to start with.

Depends how much messing about people want to put up with really.

Well ****** has gone in my bad books. Stunts like this costs you customers.
What did people expect? It was so obviously a misprice and was not going to be honoured, but people placed orders anyway. ****** have not wasted your time, you have wasted theirs. They are not the only etailer to make pricing errors and retract the products in my experience.

The fact that people rang or emailed every day and asked whether the price was right, they had 5 days to fix it and they even told people cards had shipped at that price makes them wrong.

lol people called and emailed them and they were assured the price was correct. Greebo even got a dispatched email, it's a joke of a site

Exactly, after all the effort Greebo and others have done regarding sending emails and phone calls to the retailer and to be told the prices are correct and theres nothing to worry about, the retailer is 100% in the wrong nobody else!

They had 5 days to alter the pre-order price knowing full well loads of ppl have rang them regarding the same question "Is the price correct"?

They should be made legally to honor the pricing error imo, for the people who have pre-ordered the card.

to put it in perspective, i bought my 580 from that well known auction site and got a silly massive amount of vouchers with it that effectively meant i was getting the card less than half price. they admitted they messed up but decided that as it was their cockup not mine (and many others!) we would all get our vouchers as promised. THAT'S how you do business.

you **** up, YOU pay, not your customer. something I always live/work by in my own business.

i never buy hardware from the jungle site any more anyway. too many damaged items in post and slow as hell expensive delivery.

ocuk = free and next day delivery, quality packaging, fair prices. can't ask more than that!

It is much easier to honour a misprice when only a few people place orders. In this case dozens (possibly hundreds) of people knowingly placed orders for something which was obviousely underpriced.

I too placed orders, but I was 99% sure they would not arrive. You have lost nothing, but some poor CS person has had to process lots of cancellations due to the error. Life goes on, forget about it.

Do you think OcUK would hounour such a gaff? I can answer this from previous experience with an order for an 8800 Ultra. They would not and I didn't really blame them either.

lol... trying to say that the people who truly lost out here are the customer services team? given me a good chuckle that to be honest! it's their job to deal with customers, whether it's a minor or a major problem. i'm not going to feel sorry for someone who has to do the job they agreed to do.... daft...

the only people who lost out here are those who ordered their 580(s), got billed, were out of pocket for a while and now don't have their item(s). the jungle hasn't lost anything whatsoever. if anything people might have bought other items along with their 580, so they've done well out of this.

of course most of the people who took a punt on this deal knew full well it was a cockup but that doesn't excuse the jungle of **** poor CS.

It's not the point brother
5 days to correct the price
Loads of orders, then cancelled
Outrage

You shouldnt be, its the nature of the beast with an obvious misprice, yet it happens time and time again, some you win, some you lose, but people still get outraged that they are not getting their goods. It wouldnt have been intentional (despite what gibbo thinks), its not the kind of thing people buy from these places very often which is why misprices can occur, to someone on the outside, they see a graphics card at £300 and think, blimey thats expensive while geeks like us see an obvious misprice and take a chance.
