****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

Received my OcUK 580 today, it's sitting at 850MHz at the moment quite happily. I am blown away by the performance. ArmA2: Operation Arrowhead benchmark is the only one I've run so far - at 2560x1600 2xAA, 4k view distance and Normal Post Processing I get 39fps in the benchmark. Game looks so beautiful with SSAO/DoF effects.

It is a Palit card, comes with DVI-VGA adapter and an HDMI-miniHDMI cable. I had bumped the voltage up to 1.050 but reading around it sounds like this probably isn't needed (my first Nvidia card for years), so I'm going to have a play later - 900HMz is my target on air.

What are acceptable max temps?

Depends what you play, and at what resolution etc - some games see a massive jump (20-30%), others the increase is not going to be noticeable. Depends how much the noise of your 480 bothers you too I suppose.

about 90c is the max i'd say. try to keep it under 80c when overclocking.

1.1v 900MHz seems to be standard achieveable. my KFA2 one and a friend's Zotac both can do 1.1v 900MHz without any other tweaking.

Great thanks, I'll give that a go. What are people doing with the memory clock? I'm really impressed with the fan - at 60% it's not obtrusive at all, I had been a little worried after all the GTX480 horror stories! :)

So if I was going to SLI in the future you recommend getting rid of the 480 and getting a 580?
After having a 480, i'd certainly not SLI them, at least not on air...

Which brings me onto my reson of posting here.... (Copied from the Case Gallery Thread)

Ok, Dont care if you think its mad or not but i've upgrade from a 480 to a 580. Just call it upgradeitus..!

had the noctua D12 and prolly best cooler on air i hav ever had.

as for 480 sli, i had mine through the summer and heat and noise was a major issue or me which is why i went for watercooling my whole rig. having said that ive not had my 580 running on air so not sure if it that much better noise wise

Ok, just ran Heaven, how does this look for a first time.... Not really tweaked yet though...

Good, bad, average?

i7 is @ 4ghz despite what heaven says.

^^ Looks about right for 850 core, temps look high though. I got the same case, cards get toasty with no side panel ventilation which is not helped by the HD cage restricting the front fans air flow.
