Official Home Gym Building Thread

I have the M3 half rack, it’s a solid bit of kit. Dip bars are good too.
The M3 half rack looks like a good option but its inexplicably (to me at least) 250£ more than the 60cm m3 option . Anyway, depending on overall budget it looks like a good option to cut down on overall space used.

It's also the depth not the width... all racks (pretty much) are the same width... in case that's what you were wondering

I am a cheapo so I have the Mirafit M210 half rack and it's a great bit of kit (but I would 100% get the M3 half or full rack if I could)

I'm back training at home, have been for a while. Changed things around a bit.

Hey LiE, sorry for the thread necro but I'm still pinning down options (its a few months before my garage will be cleared anyway so not buying the rack until November probably). I am considering the half rack just to save some space; but I really want a cable system. I've seen yours and it looks ideal but the cable systems on mirafit suggest they're not compatible with the half rack, do you know which you ended up getting?

A more general question to the knowledgeable on here: my concern is after I've built a platform to level the floor (it'll be of board but would need to be ~18mm ply to be strong enough I suspect), I'm going to have less clearance at the top. For chin ups/pull ups it wont be an issue because I can put my head between rafters, but 220cm is the most I've got, and once I've levelled the floor its obviously going to be a bit less. I think I can accommodate the 208cm rack - but should I be more realistic and take the 188cm option?

How do you all go about getting rust of your bars / dumbells?

I've been accumulating rust for a while and kept being lazy about acting on it. I bought a Nylon brush from Rogue after I saw it recommended but the rust is deep and while its taken off some of the surface layer there is much more ingrained rust to go.

If I go for a wire brush am I going to completely knacker things?

I'd look for a chemical rather than physical only approach. Quick google should give you ideas depending on whether you can dip stuff in or not. Once you "soften it up" it should be easier to brush off the remaining bits.
