** Official Horizon: Forbidden West Complete Edition Thread **

I have got totally addicted to this game. I just can't stop playing.

The machines are always challenging and there's so many different ways you can approach them, though sometimes it can get frustrating.

I am in awe of how good the facial animation is too, coupled with some excellent performances. The writing at the beginning of the game seemed a bit off (Aloy came across as being really arrogant and unsympathetic) but it's massively improved by the mid point, and I haven't felt so involved in the characters in a game since the Mass Effect trilogy.

Doesn't quite hit Mass Effect levels for me, but it is very good relative to most other games.

True as mostly you are ok your own, while ME you always have companions but without giving any spoilers, when you have a bunch of characters in HFW you're regularly talking with ME style it's very well done and it can hit you in the feels which I haven't encountered in a video game for a long while.

Not quite had the feels in this game yet. Maybe not as far as you though. Did love the story of the first one though.

Still a few weeks away from that is my guess.

Are you doing like every side thing, or balancing between main story and side stuff? On Valhalla I tried to do everything and burnt myself out before I could finish the story, but that game had looooooads of filler.

In HZD I did everything available on the map before being forced to do a main story mission. Worked fine.

In this game I have done a mixture because quite a few things are locked behind the main story missions. So you get somewhere and it tells you that area is not accessible. Like swimming now I have unlimited oxygen so can explore and get to places I could not before.

That said I do go to every green exclamation mark to start the quest before moving on for the most part. That's why I have done a lot more side content than mrk.

I do have a backlog of errands I may tackle next. Once all done do a bit more exploration and then back to main story mission again.

I avoided doing my 4th tallneck yesterday as I wanted to finish doing most the content in the areas I already unlocked first.

One thing I struggle with is if I finish main story I just don't care anymore to go and do side content after. So I always do as much as I fancy before completing the game. Once complete I will likely uninstall. Or maybe in this case leave it there just to play now and then due to the nice graphics.

Also some side missions unlock post story missions so there is a steady stream of side content even if you do everything you can before progressing the story.

I like how the game specifically marks and tells you an area is inaccessible due to not having the tools to access. Prevents a lot of messing around trying to do stuff that's impossible at that point.

@TNA TLDR :p

I suppose on this game unlike say Witcher 3, there is no danger of over levelling if you go off on a tangent.

I get you re main story thing. Usually the side stuff compliments the main by making you stronger or whatever, but if you beat the main and the rest is just something lame like power level or whatever (with no additional challenges) then it's pointless.

Which one was it again? I've had so many controllers this week ether to review or bought to test lol.
The T4 Cyclone Pro - 2 back buttons and a gyro - so handy, can do it on my DS4 pad with the back button attachment but I prefer the Xbox stick layout :)

Will see how these 'hall effect' things go since apparently means no drift...
