** Official Horizon: Forbidden West Complete Edition Thread **

Not on PC it didn't. And we all know that's the way to play. Not 30fps on your PlayStation.

No wonder you guys didn't enjoy it :p

It was 60fps on PS5 though, it had a choice. 30fps and voodoo2 graphics or 60 and voodoo1 graphics.
You should see some of the textures in FFVII Rebirth..
Yeah technical reasons was one factor why I didn't enjoy it, the other was I just felt like I was playing DLC and wasn't that enthralled with the first one.

Just realised, this makes console players the ultimate beta testers too.

Mrk breathing heavily rushes out and buys all the consoles.. :p

I loved HZD but Forbidden West was mediocre for gameplay and a chore to beat. I eventually realised the reason I loved HZD was the drive to reveal the entire backstory of the fall of humanity. The gameplay and main story in HZD and Forbidden West were quite underwhelming when taken in isolation.

It got a very quick release of a 40FPS mode that worked really well on VRR 120hz 4K. Graphics looked great and it was fluid. It proved to me that VRR is the best thing to happen to gaming in decades. Not RT, not DLSS or fake frames, just bog standard VRR.

I think you just nailed it for me. I wanted to know the story in the first but I wasn't interested in the follow on part. I ended up slapping it on very easy midway through as I was bored of the combat by then.
It was a very Ubisoft esque game.

You did all that in an hour?

I am talking about the first game, but yeah not very clear :) Like I put it on easy because I wanted to know the mystery, but the very clear plot point at the end to setup the sequel I was not fussed about, which in turn meant I got put off very early on with FW and got rid. The fact it looked like ass didn't help either, had a weird shimmer effect on the grass.

They fixed the shimmering grass in the end. Nevertheless, even though I didn't particularly enjoy it, I feel compelled to buy it on PC as I didn't do the DLC on PS5 which sounds a bit better than the main game.

Better half loved the first one on pc, in the end I unusually pre-ordered this one the other day using the £5 Quidco bonus.

Between this and Against The Storm, I might be forced to buy a new gaming pc or laptop, through lack of access to her i5-6600/RX580 system, after my OCuk Black Friday special X99 system from (Xmas '14?) mysteriously began producing artifacts with graphics card drivers installed ~5 years ago.

If the first game cripples my 1070, then I doubt this second will do it any favours. Hopefully get a new computer at Easter with DLSS so I can finally use my TV's GSYNC as well.
What resolution do you game at because HZD worked perfectly on our living room PC with 1070 as well - rest of our setup isn't great either i.e. 6700k @ stock and 3200Mhz CL16 RAM so nothing special but we (my other half) games at 1080p so 60Hz/fps.

I try to set it to 4K and use various upscaling techniques so that the text of the HUD are pristine. Which usually means setting it at 1080p for scaling. It's been a while, I can't quite remember.

Looks like those specs are for raster performance too. The game supports upscaling and frame gen, so those wondering about their systems not meeting the cut, you can just enable FSR/DLSS and gain more fps easily.
