Official iPad (2012 model) Accessories Thread

I'm after a carbon fibre one if anyone knows a good one? For the back obviously

yeah me too, there is SGP but they work out about £20 if you don't get done for import duty plus the fee's royal mail pile on it could work out expensive, I might just wait until the 3m carbon ones start appearing on ebay

As it seems iPad 2 cases will fit the iPad (TNG) can anyone recommend a clear back cover that works with the smart cover?

I don't think any of the iPad 2 snap-on type covers/backs will fit the 3rd gen properly. Many manufacturers are due to release updated versions to match the slightly different profile.

I had a Switcheasy Coverbuddy for my iPad 2 which I loved. Added very little bulk but totally protected the rear and corners whilst being compatibly with the smart cover.

God knows how long it's going to take them to produce a version for the iPad 3 though - there's nothing at all on their site about it :(

Now looking at the Skinny 3. http://www.stmbags.com.au/catalog/ipad-cases/skinny3-ipad3rdgen/

A few emails last night to the Australian support
We have yet to confirm the fit but the designs and function are finalised. We will not be shipping any stock untill we can confirm it 100 per cent the fit.

We will have them mid next week in the UK and ready to ship upon launch

Rang them up and they asked where I lived. They said Stormfront and Solutionsinc are the nearest of places to buy them, but like 30 minutes away. Said they also both have online stores and should be in the top few to have them. £39.99 though =/

Still can't decide whether to Invisibleshield/SGP the back and Smart Cover/alternative the front or to get a folio type thing.
Get a smart cover, Invisi shield for the back, and then some kind of robust sleeve for carrying in bags (etc).

You won't regret it. Those folio things ruin everything about the iPad. The combination above has all the benefits and offers the right protection at the right times.

Yep, that sounds about right to me. Ta :)

Quite like this idea.. Think I would buy a Gellaskin though for the back.

right i waited for 2 years to buy a tablet, so I ordered a ipad3. so do i need to buy a leather wallet to protect it, or install an anti virus program?

Case is optional, I haven't bothered with the last 2 pads as its been in the house 99.5% of the time. Depends how clumsy you or others around you are.

Antivirus software, an emphatic no. Infact theres no such a thing anyway even if you wanted to :>

Ok thank you 187 - answer you gave ticked all my boxes, ahem. Yes it will sit on a coffee table or bedside cabinet most of the time. I bought it for my wife, although i'm really looking forward to looking at the ipad.

Anyone seen any decent looking leather folio cases yet? I fancy something like the Snugg case thats currently on pre-order but in real leather.

foofbag is quite similar to what my wife made for the Kindle, she's intending to make one for the new iPad when we get it too. No doubt she'll flog the bags on etsy if she likes it! :D

I'm looking for a rubber or soft silicone case with a grippy back that either includes or will work with a smart cover. I'm a wheelchair user and will be carrying it on my lap most of the time. I want something that won't slip off my lap but provide good protection if it should take a tumble. Any suggestions?

The STM Skinny 3 should meet your needs. It's not released for the new iPad yet but will be soon.

Thanks for that it looks good :)

Any other cases out there that would suit my needs? I've had a look but haven't come across much, no doubt due to the fact it's for the new model rather than the iPad 2.
