** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

No top class player in their right mind would move leagues/country's this close to the World Cup so no Aguero to Chelsea and if the ban holds up no Aguero full stop :D

Aguero is going to the world cup, full stop, if he doesn't play another game from now till the summer, he'll be in the squad, if he gets injured and is only due to be fit 3 days from the first game starting, he'll be in the squad.

Only players who aren't certain of places who already have first team football and move to bigger clubs they are less sure of a starting spot would be mad, and there aren't many of them about. Heskey might move to get more games, he seems set to go even without playing much though. I'm trying to think of a single example of a bad move and having a hard time. Ok Upson to Chelsea or Arsenal as backup would be mad for him. He's a decent shot to go as cover for the defence, yet if he goes to a bigger club and barely plays for the next 6 months, he might not get in. Most "top class" players, are already going no matter what, thats what makes them top class, its the outside shots that have first team that shouldn't be moving in as backup at bigger clubs.

I really hope Arsenal don't sign another striker, ridiculous short term panick followed by yet another expensive high wage player riding the bench. We've got enough strikers and withdrawn strikers that if we played a 4-4-2 and everyone was fit we'd have 4 people in reserve who are good upfront. At the moment we have not a single out and out winger at the club. Arshavin, Nasri, Theo, Rosicky, Wilshire, RVP, Bendtner, Vela, Eduardo are all better in the middle and high up the pitch. Why not try not panicking and actually by a winger, use Theo/Nasri/Wilshire/Bendtner in a month/Vela/Eduardo in the middle and have a REAL winger for, you know, the damn wing.

Last year we'd scored 2-3 less than Utd, conceded 150% more goals or something stupid, and spent our entire load on Arshavin, while a fantastic player we still won all the games we would have and we still got entirely spanked in all the tough games. A great player and one I want to keep, but he didn't change last season for us at all. Again we're scoring great, and conceding WAY to much, and it looks again like Wenger's going to panick buy for the short term leaving the squad unbalanced and weak in the future. We have strikers coming out of our ears, we have attacking midfielders all over the place, we have no wingers, crap DM's, no cover at centre back thats good enough, so it looks like we'll again splash out on a Striker.

Reading that Upson is a strong possibility for Spurs.. Just what we need.. Another injury prone CB.

Would be nice to get another LB personally. We'll be a bit short there in January.

Di Maria looked awesome from what I've seen of him this season. Benfica are probably the most underrated side in Europe right now.

rumours are they have a 40m euro buy-out clause for him (but may accept 30m) so the 9m euro offer +Nani was probably a little pie in the sky (which is I guess what you would expect from majority of transfers at this stage of the game - whether it actually happens, or is even true, or not)
