** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Apart from he's ****. :p

I've not seen much of that Bordeaux forward, Chamakh. I wonder if he's any good, I couldn't find much on YouTube.

We're missing Bender I think, when he comes back in we should find it slightly easier to penetrate the edge of the box, and at least we'll be able to have one or two threats from the set piece.

Eduardo has been dire of late but he just needs more games and he'll sharpen up.

Missing Bendtner, yet Pav is ****. :p

Shurrup you! :p

Bendtner isn't the best goalscorer I agree, but he has a good field presence. Hasn't Pavvy got a bit of a stroppy streak occasionally about him as well? The last I heard from him a few months ago was that he wanted to leave Tottenham.

Gignac was a complete waste of space when I saw him playing for France. I'd rather see Jay Simpson recalled from loan than sign him.

I've only seen him play once and that was against Ireland and he was out wide. Pretty much inaffective and got taken off if I remember.

He scored a shed load of goals last season for Tolouse though.

Yeah, I'm not singing his praises or anything I just think he's the most likely striker Wenger would buy this window.

There's not many others in the mould they require not cup tied and that won't cost £15M+

Bendtner isn't good at football.

It's really that simple.

He's utter ****.

How many times have you watched him play?

He's got decent feet, a good shot, he's not bad at passing and he offers something that we don't really have much of. Our other tallest players are Diaby and Djourou. Bender gives us a different option because of his frame. Before he got injured he was playing quite well. He doesn't score many goals, but he does contribute and when he comes back it'll be like a new signing anyway.

I've been wondering why we *need* to buy a new forward in the January window. We've no massive problems scoring goals lately and instead of spending money why don't we just keep it until the summer? Or if Wenger is being nudged to spend a bit of money then buy an extra defender.

That said I think Joe Ledley would be a good buy from Cardiff, for the right price.

Bendtner is a good link-up player, in that he can keep moves going when the ball is played up to him. Obviously his height gives something a bit different from our other forwards. His first touch is suspect however and his finishing is not CL standard - not the sort of player who will get over 20 league goals a season.

Bendtner is a forward, he's a big forward.

Forwards are supposed to score goals, or at least look like scoring, He can't do either. He's got a poor touch, slow, and has poor passing.

So he might win a few balls in the air? So what? He's nothing more then a back up for Arsenal imo, no where near good enough.

I saw him play a fair bit for Birmingham (where he looked half decent) and have seen him a lot for Arsenal. He's just not a good football, even the Danish don't rate him (watched Denmark V Sweeden when I was in Denmark)

15 goals last year wasn't a bad return in 27 starts + 23 as sub. He's still young too.

Are you sure about that, he was voted Danish Player of the Year, and got their goal of the Year award. He averages a goal in every 3 intentional games, not a bad record I'm sure you'll agree.

He's no Henry, but he's far from Rubbish and a good squad player.

Had the man been able to finish, he'd have doubled that quite easily. Arsenal create lots of chances, or they did last season. As a striker you can't really blame anyone except yourself and finishing for not scoring.

Yup, I'm sure. I was sat / stood talking to lots of Danish people :)

None of which rated him.

No, he's nothing more then a squad player, he should never be first choice.

Real Madrid are preparing a £60m move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who is their top summer transfer target, and will pursue him in the same way they chased Cristiano Ronaldo last season.

lol :D

Rooney would be awesome in that league. I'd love to see him go there and progress some more. Manu currently need a bit of a rebuild and the funds are not there. I've said all along that ronaldo money will just dissapear.

I can't see it happening but career wise it would be a great move.

If they did come in with that sort of money it's too high to turn down.

He's the first name on the teamsheet for Demark, is their main player, sets up numerous goals and scores lots of the national team, as he did at Birmingham, as he's done at Arsenal with a run in the team, he was scoring last year at almost the same rate as the likes of Rooney, just with far less time on the pitch, no confidence and no support.

If you don't think he's very good at football, you don't know football, he's barely once in his entire time at Arsenal played in his position, the few times he has he's been outstanding, the Sheffield Utd game was probably his best game, withdrawn striker, late runs into the box and providing throughballs for a striker infront of him, thats his forte, not being a lone striker, not as a left winger, he's been more effective as a right winger than lots of our other players.

This year 11 starts, 5 goals 1 assist, last year 38 starts, 18 goals , 9 assists, helping. 17 prem league starts last season, with 9 goals and 2 assists, shocking poor right. Considering about 2 of those games were in his best position I'd say thats pretty damn good.

Its fairly simple, he barely played more than a couple games in a row before being dropped all year, no matter if he scored or not. His interplay is very good with RVP, and they looked better when towards the end of the season Wenger tried RVP the further forward of the two a few times, most of his appearances were alongside a useless lazy moron in Ade who unless you gave the ball to him 3 inches from the goal, did nothing with it. I'm fairly sure after scoring 2, and getting 3 assists against Sheffield Utd he was dropped for a couple games, and thats how it was all year. Not sure how you gain a young player confidence by dropping him after a performance few players ever produce. If Cesc had done that the world would be creaming themselves(rightly) at a fantastic performance. When a unliked player produces the same, its ignored completely.

If he's such a bad finisher, I wonder how he had almost the same goal/minutes on the pitch ratio as Rooney and all but the top 2-3 strikers in the league. He had one bad game where a unfortunate number of chances fell on his left foot all very close to the goal but all chances with no time, just a reaction shot, he I believe still got an assist in that game, and got 2-3 in the games after it, but people decided to brand him useless on one 5 minute spell.

Rooney has said before he wants to go on and have a similar career to Giggsy at Old Trafford.

I can't see it happening unless Rooney pushed for the move.
