** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Tummy I think you're being a bit harsh on Bendtner here. He's still very young and developing. While he might never turn into a world beater, he is far from being utter **** and not good at football. I think people's expectations of younger players these days are unrealistic because we've been spoilt with real class players over the years who made an impact from a young age.

If Rooney did go to Spain he'd have to change his playing style a bit. Any sort of contact is a foul over there and I'm not sure Rooney would like that a lot.

He could be a massive success still though because he's brilliant technically and doesn't have to bulldoze his way around the pitch.

I don't see Rooney ever leaving unless it's him that requests a transfer. Vidic on the other hand although getting back to his usual good form, looks like his mind is elsewhere. It really wouldn't surprise me in the least if he left this summer. I'll be gutted should it happen.

I've said he did well at Birmingham.

I am yet to see Bendtner play a game for Arsenal (yes I've seen a lot of Arsenal games) where he has convinced me he could be a first choice in the future.

He's a squad player at the moment, and would need to improve a lot to become first choice, he could improve.

Exactly, he's 21 (22 this month) and still learning the game.

He's just not a good footballer

No, he's nothing more then a squad player, he should never be first choice.

Make your mind up! He's gone from rubbish to a squad player in just over an hour! By 5 o'clock he's going to be World Class at that rate!:p

I don't think anyone has said he's a World class player, he's a good young pro, a good addition to a squad who will chip in with a good amount of goals.

Yup, I'm sure. I was sat / stood talking to lots of Danish people :)

None of which rated him.

So why was he player of the year then? It was voted for by the fans;):p

"It is an immensely great honour to be awarded Player of the Year by the fans," said Bendtner.

He's got a lot to learn.

He's rubbish, and as such nothing more then a squad player for Arsenal.

The Danish fans I was talking to (a good number of them) didn't rate him :)

He could just be the best of a bad lot? :p

Rooney would be awesome in that league. I'd love to see him go there and progress some more. Manu currently need a bit of a rebuild and the funds are not there. I've said all along that ronaldo money will just dissapear.

I can't see it happening but career wise it would be a great move.

If they did come in with that sort of money it's too high to turn down.

Lost-for-words

Bendtner is under rated but I know why. His touch is sometimes a little clumsy and he makes a few mistakes which you expect a player of his age to make. People see players playing for Arsenal and always throw them out as useless, same with most of the country and Walcott. These players need to be given until at least 23/24 to develop properly. Imagine if Barca had thrown Iniesta out at 21 (age of Walcott and Bender) because he wasn't world class? Ridiculous. Thankfully football fans don't run football clubs though.

Wenger knows more about football than everybody here combined and he watches Bender every day, there's a reason he's at Arsenal and imo he'll show it soon.

Right now if Man Utd lost Rooney they'd be in trouble. Nearly every time I've watched them on tv he's been the only difference between Man Utd and rubbish teams. No way they'll sell him.

United should sign Bendtner. He's young and just been voted the Danish Player of the Year. He's a great goalscorer and a real squad player. Sell Rooney.

Good post. I don't really see how anyone can say Bender is rubbish and what does "Just a squad player" mean? He links up well and is overall very good for his age. DM's post was quite insightful as well with a few of those stats chucked in.

Also, Tummy just because a few Danish fans said Bender was ****, that must mean he really is **** right? Because being voted Danish player of the year by Danish football fans obviously means nothing based on you talking to a handful of Danes.

Rooney has said before he wants to go on and have a similar career to Giggsy at Old Trafford.

I can't see it happening unless Rooney pushed for the move.

It's his agent I wouldn't trust. I really cannot see it happening but I'd love to see him try his hand in spain just from a spectators point of view.

It's the truth.

Rooney would be fantastic at Real or Barca, can't see him leaving Old Trafford.

He'll be just fine at United.

Exactly, It will be quite telling how much cash manu spend next summer to see where the ronaldo money goes. The team needs a re-jig again. Obviously Fergie has done that time and time again but the money situation doesn't seem to be the same as before.

There's so many players way past their best and some that haven't made the grade.

It's the truth.

What that he'd progress more at Real? To almost insinuate that being at Old Trafford is holding him back and for the sake of his career he should move on?

Facts are that very few players go on and improved themselves once leaving United and I find it scandalous to suggest that we're proving to be detrimental to Rooney's career

Bit like Arsenal with Fabregas then, or Liverpool without Torres

Big shock that if a team lost it's best player they would struggle, funny thing is though everyone said we were a one man team last season with Ronaldo yet Rooney was there then.....
