** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

He's supported them all his life apparently. Probably a decent move for him, he was never going to be first choice at Arsenal.

£12m for Babel? What is wrong with Benitez :/? Has he managed to miss every game Babel has played?

It's a bit like Alonso, I didn't think Alonso was worth 35 million, but hats off to Rafa for getting that much for him.

Rafa needs money, so selling Babel for as much as he can is a good thing.

I think Liverpool should try and pick up Cole from West Ham with the money from Babel if they get that, and then use anything left over for a winger or a right back (just my two cents)

Exactly. Anyway, if we are to sign Rodriguez then that would free up Kuyt as another option up top.

Hopefully we can ship out all of Dossena, Voronin, Degen and Babel then that should free up a bit more cash to sign another attacking player and probably a RB because of Johnson's injury.

Why would it be interesting? He's barely played in god knows how long because of injury problems, he's on massive money and wouldn't get into our first 11. We do need another striker but I don't think we need it as much as people making out; well we don't need somebody like RvN. I don't see how somebody like RvN with his age and injury problems is going to offer us anything extra than N'gog has offered us (who's been more than decent when he's played).

As above, if we sign Rodriguez then we'll have Kuyt as another option up front so we're not going to be desperately short of numbers (especially when we only play 1 up front anyway). However if we manage to bring in enough money to go out and sign somebody that could offer us something extra to N'gog or Kuyt (Carlton Cole is somebody I'd like us to sign) then we certainly should try and sign them.

Anyway, Rafa's said we're not after him.

You wouldn't even like to see RvN on loan for the rest of the season? It could be a very interesting loan signing if he did join.

Injuryed a lot recently, is it worth risking money on a player who might not be fit?

Older players take longer to recover as well, why take a punt on him when you could maybe buy a cheap young player?

A cheap young player like?

The lack of striking options at Liverpool is something that really does concern me.

So you'll play a player who's the wrong side of 30 and been injured?

You could pick up C Cole from West Ham depending on how much money you make this transfer season.

I'm too tired to give it much thought :p

No! How can you justify spending ~£3m on wages for 5-6 months on a player that won't get into our first 11, isn't an improvement on what we have as cover and isn't likely to be fit for half the time he would be with us?

If we sign Rodriguez (which looks very likely), we'll then be able to use Kuyt as our 3rd striker behind Torres and N'gog. 3 players for 1 position isn't that bad a situation, we don't need to sign a striker for the sake of it. If we can sign somebody that will improve on N'gog and Kuyt then ok, but I'd rather spend the ~£3m somewhere else than on an injury prone has-been.

N'gog: 6 goals from 9 starts (+ 7 sub apps), Berbatov: 6 goals from 16 starts (+ 7 sub apps).

I think you know what you can do :p
