** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

The "Should a successful medical be completed and final terms agreed" part is probably what they're on with on SSN.

Is it not true what he has said..

I'll raise you a certain Aaron Ramsey, recently described by some of the media as the most promising young British footballer. Who did he settle for... Let's not forget he appeared on a certain website as having joined when he hadn't (I'm not saying this is true of Smalling)

Ramsey joined you over us because he felt wanted by Wenger more than he did from Fergie, the wet blanket! :p

So is it too early to say "Up yours Wenger" yet?

Is this the point where he stops becoming a hot new talent?
Instead becoming over rated and not all that good in the eyes of Arsenal fans?

Its amazing how silvestre went from being "Rubbish" to not all that bad as soon as he signed for Arsenal.

I honestly dont know what their thoughts were prior to that though

Right type of signing at the time, i.e. an experienced player, who could cover in a few positions. Just the wrong player.

Never seen Smalling play, so no idea if we are missing out on him at all.

So its all confirmed now , or still waiting for medical?

edit - sorry thought it was much earlier "just waiting for successful medical" was posted

Yeah exactly - looks /sounds like the kind of guy we really need (especially right now)

You dont think so?

I dont, with Scholes, Carrick and Fletcher we've got enough holding or ball winning midfielders

I thought Modric was great out wide for Spurs tonight, he'd be perfect for us out on the left

Sissoko has been linked to Arsenal for about 6 transfer windows running, thankfully it's Man Utd now. Decent player though, in the French league.

I rate Modric, really like his style. He's obviously got great technique and is one of those players who were born to attack, he knows which runs to make and which passes to make which open up a game in a second. Love players like him

Scholes is not a holding or ball winning midfielder. Carrick, while he can play there, is better at other things.

Indeed, the only Arsenal fan i've seen say anything positive about him is DM......

I've praised him this season on occasion. Not the greatest player in the squad, but more than adequate as cover (4th/5th choice centrehalf and 4th choice leftback).

Wilshere going to Bolton if SS are correct. At first I thought that out of every team mentioned, that was the worst in terms of style, after some thought though it could be brilliant. Coyle will slowly get the Bolton team to change their style and the fans will probably love Wilshere, he'll toughen up and learn at a club which is different to Arsenal. Learning how to adapt himself will add to him as a player. On the other hand it could go horribly wrong and he could hate it, see how maturely he approaches it, important 6 months for him

I think Wenger was always likely to send him to work with Coyle. He's been quite open in the past about his admiration for the way Coyle had Burnley trying to play good football even at the lower end of the league. I'd imagine he sees sending him to work with Coyle at Bolton, a team likely to improve in footballing quality and remain in the premiership, as preferential to sending him to Burnley who are likely to struggle under Laws and be relegated.
