*** Official Kinect Thread ***

My sister brought her new 360 and kinnect down yesterday, I was pretty impressed with it and it was definately a lot of fun. Like the wii it got my parents playing and they kicked everyones arses at bowling. Not sure I can see myself getting one but it was very entertaining.

Well there's a foot between the wall and the back of the TV, I probably could wall mount it, but then I'm worried the top of the TV will block the floor angles out as I approach the TV. Unless I go real high ?

Any recommendations?

what did you use to stick it to the top of your panny? i have the 3d plasma and it doesnt look like there is much there to mount it too, was think of mounting a glass shelf behind the tv

blu-tac and it seems pretty solid to me. Maybe if I get the proper TV mount, that should give me an extra inch or two which may fix my problem of not being far enough, without having to drastically make alterations, such as cables in the wall and shelving.

It does annoy me though, as you can see in the pic, i have a decent amount of free space in front of the Kinect and yet thats not enough. I can't see this being a hit in Europe or Japan where space is more of a premium in people's living area. Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft really think things through.

Mines probably up as high as that red part in your room and a good foot behind the TV and it hasn't been a problem as the sensor tilts down.

Top of the door is about 6.8ft, so I guess I could put a shelf around 6.5ft and place it on there. I'd have to hide the cable in the wall otherwise it'll look nasty. Just not sure if I want to do that. Wall will be damaged. Still undecided if its going to be a gimmick that I'll play around with for the 1st month, or if it's something that'll get a lot of use... Also just measured, anything less than 5ft to the wall and the feet will get cut off, if i mount it on the shelf.

i agree i have just enough room in my living room without falling into chairs but i would say it would be useless in majority of kids bedrooms

That's not really the idea of it though is it?

Microsoft is pushing the whole family aspect, the idea of which is to have the console in your living room where you can have fun and share it with friends.

I got one myself for Xmas and have really enjoyed it so far. Yes you need space, but I'd say it's not much different to the Wii (unless you plan on hitting things).

My main worry though is vertical space!

First huddles session on Kinect Sports and I hit my head on the ceiling lamp! :p

Yeah probably not worth all that hassle :(

Has anyone had to mount their Kinect in the corner of their room so they can make use of the playing space? If so how did you mount it? If you used a shelf, what size did you use?
thanks

Sports is absolutely amazing. Brother and I seemed to have mastered the volleyball! Played 32 games online so far and are unbeaten :)

Haven't had any issues with space myself.

I've had mine since November with a couple of games.. Xbox Adventures and Dance Central.

Dance Central is bloody amazing and shows how much of a crap dancer I am :D.

For Christmas I got Kinect Sports.. it is amazing! I will harp on about it again but the Wii has nothing on Microsoft's Kinect system.

Kinect Sports is my current favourite game it is such good fun with others.

I also was given Kinect: Game Party for Christmas. The interface does suck quite badly for new players I must say. The stupid above the waist hand holding for going through menus makes game play and getting into the fun so so so tedious.

But! The games are on the whole fun especially Darts. But the theme of the game is aimed at America with a number of yank type games.

Our TVs is in a corner anyway, so I just bought a small rounded corner pine shelf from b&q for under £5, and it works perfectly, mounted at 6ft high.

I've got an original 360 with 120gb HDD attached (not an elite though) I've plugged the kinect into the wall, and the USB end into the back port on the 360. The led is lit on the little splitter part of the cable but my Xbox is just not detecting the sensor. The Xbox is connected to the internet too.

Any ideas of something I've stupidly not done?
