*** Official Kinect Thread ***

This is what kinect should be seeing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrBmbh_z2Q4 your whole body head to toe. on my old kinect it would only see from my waist up, therefore when my kids tried to jump in, it would only see their heads. In tuner, I couldn't manually pivot the kinect down to see my whole body. Which is why the Microsoft guy told me to return it to where i had it from.
Ive just tried to get the pics onto my macbook, but for some reason the cardit isnt recognizing the camera, or the card reader. Let me know if you desperately want them and ill drag the other laptop out.

Mine actually works better below the TV rather than above it, which I was surprised about as I don't have the biggest space. On the tracking it fits in my body to just below the knees, and I haven't had any problems so far with any games, so I'm not sure you need to fit in head to toe (but obviously it might be better).

Pretty impressed with it to be honest after a bit of faff setting it up in an optimal position, it's much better than Wii ever was for the "sports" type games, just hope there's a good flow of games that come along that aren't all too simplistic or mini-game ripoffs.

Picked mine up from the post office this morning and spent some time setting up and calibrating. Boy is this thing great, I wasn't that fussed after playing with an earlier version, but after this morning I'm now a convert.

After an hour on adventures I was kaput, so your shape should finish me off nicely.

Got Kinect Sports today, had one in stock in Reading so had to wait till I got back down here.

It's awesome! Shame I didnt have it for my New years Eve party but I'm really impressed with it. Great fun and so easy to play.

Have found a great way to make a stand for my kinect. Using one of these from argos. I'll rip out the wiring and the light part at the top, hopefully make a stand that the kinect will fit onto. Paint it black so it doesn't look so cheap and crappy. I have two of these lights sitting around doing nowt but collect dust. Just tried it out precariously balancing the kinect on top and it worked brilliantly. I have about a 6' x 7' play area, maybe a tiny bit bigger.

Got mine on xmas day and I must I'm really impressd with it got the adventures game, kinectamals, dance central and kintec sports so far and have no issues so far.

I got the PDP wall mount and having mounted it about 6 foot up on the wall behind my tv it is working perfectly.

Really looking forward to what other games are ging to come out this year.

Ive got mine mounted quite low and it works perfectly, I have quite a lot of room though (maybe 10ft) as it can see both my feet and hands up the air without adjusting.

is their an official mount for this - or any good guides about best height depending on floor space?

Just moved to a new property with a dedicated game/media room - and have about 5.5FT of open floor space just not sure how high to mount it and if there is an official mount i can use.

:)

The official TV mount and wall bracket are made by PDP, only a few places stock it and it's ridiculously overpriced. 3rd party, or DIy solutions are cheaper and probably better.

Also, don't think that just because you have a small space that higher is better. I tried it, and my sensor works perfectly at the base of the TV. Above the TV it was useless.

I did have it on a pile of DVD's stacked behind the TV and the higher did work much better then having it at the base of the TV in the room - tracked much better, both fully calibrated.

I might use DVD solutuion to get the optimal height and just whack a shelf up then!
