**** Official LG G4 Discussion Thread ****

Nice one kona I can't wait to get my hands on the G4!

On another note it seems like the leather versions come with two backs (don't know if it's a universal thing) or a CPW thing. Great value for money LG including two backs though.

Having a spare back would be nice but I'd rather a spare battery like they're offering in the US!

I take it these are in stores now then? I'd quite like to try the size before ordering one

I'm tempted to order one of these. CPW or rainforest?

Depends on a few things Mate.

Availability - If you want it now I suggest you buy from CPW. The bonus is that you get a spare back from CPW. Amazon won't deliver until the 30th at the earliest.

Returns Policy - I don't know about CPW returns policy but Amazon is second to none.

Price - CPW are £10 cheaper but they have the black leather as an exclusive and contract only (on their website) but I'm not sure if this applies in store.

Ultimately it's down to you :)

Speaking of the back, at first I was a little disappointed when I got the grey plastic backing, as I wanted the tan leather. However in use it actually feels very nicely made if a bit slippery. The pattern has a nice texture and best of all it is the opposite of a finger print magnet. It always looks flawless which is a neat trick. And with the back being curved it feels great on the hand. It's also thing at the top and bottom sides which make it feel thinner.

In terms of overall build quality I'd say it's very well built. Fit and finish is top drawer and there's no creaks or groans in use. Buttons feel decent and I like that they on the back too. The only thing I do not like is the glossy sides, they look and feel a bit low rent. A matt metal band would have been ideal.

Also I tried the quick charging on mine and I don't think it's enabled on mine. Scottland's might have different FW so his may have it.

The camera is great as said, the video camera is OK, not as excellent as the camera IMO. The OIS is a bit wobbly (loosly sprung), not as sharp and detailed as it could be (S6 has this nailed). And the audio recording is down right awful...very thin and low quality sound. That needs fixing asap.

I like the grey plastic and would've gone for the white one but Amazon didn't have that colour option in stock so I went all bling and have gone for the gold one instead. Only because of the light gold trim around the keys and camera sensor and with a view of getting the brown or red leather further down the line which will look great with the gold trim.

The phone being slightly curved is a win and LG have done really well in the ergonomics department and it's good that you say it feels great on the hand and that it's very well built. I'm sure the retail units have the quick charging enabled and further down the line LG will push it out to all the test units.

I've seen the video camera output and it's disappointing to say the least sound and video leaves a lot to be desired with OIS being quite wobbly like you said. I'm sure this can be fixed with a firmware update.

How's the sound through headphones? Can a buzzing sound be heard in between music? That was a common fault on the G3 I'm hoping the G4 doesn't suffer from the same issue.

Well, I'm not going to bother with a contract or upgrade at the moment. I'm thinking I'll just buy the phone SIM-free and stick in the last few days on my current contract SIM before grabbing a SIM-only later. So... I'm eying up the Gold version (never was a fan of the leather) and a few questions.

1) Cheapest, reliable place to buy one SIM-free? With link if possible.

2) I don't want a single mark on the phone so recommended best screen protector (its saved my S4 some screen scratches)? Preferably one that's easy to apply without getting bubbles, I suck at putting them on.

3) What are the best/recommended most cases for the G4? I preferably would like something that covers the screen and opens, like some of the wallet cases.

As soon I have these answers I will order this sucker! So excited!

...And there goes a portion of my PC build budget, I need to sort that out so I can build in a few weeks, probably by selling my well kept S4.

Ordered mine with brown leather from phones.co.uk with £25 cash back using a code and 45 cash back via quidco for next delivery. Apart from now they've got the order the handset is unavailable. Little annoyed but hey ho. I presume it's be use its the brown one.

Heads up stoosh, the tan leather back version is £520 Amazon.
Tested the music - no buzzing between tracks.

Thanks kona that's a relief with regards to the music playback.

I saw the tan version on Amazon but would really like the red leather so went with the gold instead and will wait for the red leather back to be released further down the line.

@AlecR My amazon pre order still showing delivery for this Saturday or if things go wrong Sunday at the latest.
