**** Official LG G4 Discussion Thread ****

Well, talking to a person at Handtec, it turns out the only models of the LG G4 that come with Quadbeat 3 headphones are Korean models which are only sold in... guess which country? I was concerned since I use large over-ear headphones, the Audio-Techika ATH-M30x and wouldn't mind decent in-ear headphones.

Anyhow, since this appears to be the best price in the UK, from a store with reasonable reputation, I've just ordered my LG G4 Gold. Cost just £501.47 including 2-3 day tracked delivery. Order is also protected by Google. I'll let folks know what my experience is with this retailer. I've also ordered a leather case and a screen protector from Amazon.

While the Skinomi TechSkin screen protector has good reviews mentioning how easy it is to apply without bubbles, unfortunately the estimated delivery is the week starting the 9th June, i.e. the week I move and no faster delivery options :(
So I'm having it sent where I'm moving instead.

So total spent on this SIM-free phone: £525.45. Is it worth it? Next week will tell.

So tempted replace my z3c with one of these but going be a hard sell to get rid of my z3c as the headphone jack is playing up abit now.

Seems like it could be a software issue now as ive just used soundabout and I can get my headphones working using that it seems like the phone wont detect it manually

God damn it! I want one of these things, but was just about to pull the trigger on an upgraded standard stereo for the car!

Very tempting!

Do it Mike you know you want to buy a new phone to ease the pain you have from suffering from. ;)
I've managed to secure a refund of £34.14! Thank god for the Amazon Preorder price guarantee

So you should have it in your hands tomorrow
Looking forward to seeing what you make of it.

A win for the LG?

Yes I hope so! Will defo let you know what I make of it. Am looking forward to putting the battery through its paces :D

A classic tale of the hare and tortoise! Very aggressive RAM management by Samsung there. Thanks for the video kona! :)

I'm going to await your verdict stoosh.

If you just focus on the Lollipops negatives then yeah. There's plenty of positives, especially the UI. But then a lot of that's buried under the heavy skin of some OEM's. It was a major update, there was bound to be some issues.

I'm very happy with Lollipop on the Nexus 6. Over the moon in fact.

It's a win for Android 5.1.

It's got nothing to do with Android 5.1 as the M9 did the same on 5.0.

It's Samsung's aggressive RAM management which is the difference.

Can't say it would would be a factor in me deciding on any of the flagship phone to be honest. I'll probably be getting the Note 5 or one of the alleged Nexus 2015 devices as the G4's rear speaker is the deal breaker for me. In one way it's better than my Nexus 5 (in that you won't cover it when using the phone in landscape mode), but it still points the audio away from the user, which in this day and age is just retarded, for everyone involved.

Balls... I'm paying approximately £6 more for mine XD It's already been dispatched, or I'd cancel and order from Amazon. Partly because I just trust Amazon more.

I might return the phone if it turns out that Handtec lied and the G4 can come with QuadBeats outside of Korea. And if Amazon include it too. Otherwise I'll buy some standalone, since I hate the cheap ones usually included. According to other forum-goers here, Handtec are pretty good. I read a post where even Stulid brought something from them.

My concern with the G4 is if there are differences between handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S6 had various different camera sensors. The only thing of that sort I've heard of is the inclusion of those QuadBeat HPs. I hope all the LG G4s are otherwise the same... except for the individual backplates of course. I know this has also been an issue on other popular phones.

And the Lollipop thing, I never updated my S4 to it. Just as well, I only just managed to unlock it by flashing a different version of the modem on Kitkat. Now it won't ask for an update at all. I wonder if that's going to affect selling it?

I had a look on clove uk. The box content shows:

  • UK / SIM Free LG G4
  • Mains charger
  • USB data cable
  • LG Quad Beat 3 headphones
  • Documentation
  • 1 additional Metallic Grey replacement back cover (only with Leather option)
