Go to the Google "Photos" app in your app drawer -> long press -> Get details (top right options menu, although I'm using Smart Launcher so this could be different!) and then click "Clear Defaults" - next time you try to open a photo from the camera it should give you the option to choose the gallery app as the default!

btw, this phone is amazing - even the battery life, which I wasn't expecting to be fantastic, is pretty impressive - fairly constant use yesterday and was down to only 60% last night!

Nice one. Managed to sort it. Agree about the phone I'm absolutely loving it. Battery life as you say is great.

bit of a odd one this, I recently bought an iPhone 6 128gb so sold the G4 and I'm kind of regretting it, anyway considering getting another g4 lol........ looking at the brown leather one this time (had the black leather last time) and was just wondering what colour plastic back comes with the brown one, I got a gold coloured one with my black leather version. This phone would almost be perfect if it had a finger print scanner, everything else I just really liked and a moment of madness has left me where i'm at

All the leather ones come with a gold cover. I have the red leather back.

I''m very impressed with the battery life so far, although I'm not a "power user" so my phone is asleep most of the day with only a few 5-10min web blasts when I'm on the loo

PS I also found that capturing a screen shot is the most unnatural button combination ever!

Couldn't disagree more tbh - I find I can easily press the power and volume down with one finger to take a screenshot - loads easier than on other phones I've had!

You can also use Quick Memo+ by pulling down the notification bar, to quickly take a screenshot and share it.

In my hunt for a new phone I'm really tempted to pick this up. Bit worried about the size over my S6 but I think the lack of bezels mean bigger screen but not much bigger handset?

What negatives would people say about this phone?

The only negative I have is the size. I would prefer it a bit smaller, G2 size would be perfect.

Apart from that it's fantastic.

Agreed, it's a great phone, I just find it a touch unwieldy at times.

I miss the G2, that phone was so underrated IMO - I've been trying to pick up a 32GB one as a spare phone.

Personally I found it too big. However, I'm loving the z5 compact which is the complete opposite really so take that as a frame of reference. If you're coming from a device like an s6 it will feel a little flimsy. At least it felt that way to me coming from an m8. I also wasn't a fan of lg's software skin.

Having said all that, apart from the size, I mostly enjoyed the device. The camera is excellent (far better than the z5) and I stuck nova launcher on so that mitigated lg's software. Performance wise it never skipped a beat. I just couldn't get on with the size and missed having something that felt really solid.

That's interesting thanks for sharing that. I really liked the Z% compact too so size isn't, er, everything I guess.

I quite like the G3 but I worry it would be a step back for me camera wise against my S6.

I'll keep looking I guess.

The G4 is only 2mm bigger hight and width over the G3. It is a big phone but just about manageable with one hand operation. Would not go over 5.5" though.

Thing is I don't think there is much out there that's going to feel like much (if any) of an upgrade over your S6.

The Camera on the G4 is very good considerably better than the G3. If you find the G3 OK size wise you will be fine with the G4...

Is there any way to change to quick settings icons? So the 5 icons at the top when you pull the bar down. I never use Quick Memo+ but quite often turn Bluetooth on and off.

There is an "Edit" button at the far right where you can tinker with what's there!
