Release date checks on pre loads are nessecary, for obvious reasons.

I dont see any reason why it would be the case for hard copies of ME2 because its a single player game, dragon age didnt have it either, both of which EA publish.

Borderlands had this recently, i was on the ship at the time and i couldnt activate the game when using my phone as a modem. I was not amused, i had to wait 2 weeks to play it in the end

no you can't log in, the dlc doesn't work till release i think will revert to the original exe before release.
