Maybe it's the shaders they're using, causing the card to work a bit harder than normal ?

Crysis & Crysis 2 run my 5850 at around 5-10c hotter than any other games.

Unless you're running eyefinity, or using supersampling, a single 5850 should be enough for ME2 so you could always disable crossfire beforehand in either the CCC or RadeonPro.

Just weird how my initial play of ME2 had no heat issues, only those 2 DLC missions.

Did first start happening on the external bit of the SB's ship, maybe all the lightning and such pushed my cards harder than the rest of the game.

What driver version are you running ?

If you're getting the 99% gpu usage bug, then maybe the card is hotter before you start playing, causing the temps to be higher than you'd expect ?


edit - ignore that I forgot you said earlier that all your other games were fine, its only the dlc that's giving you problems

Well, it shouldn't be a problem any more, just got the final 2 missions left then I have my save ready for ME3

Yes, it's intended to bridge ME2 and 3.

Nay, any time after you have completed the Horizon mission, IIRC.

Only just heard of the arrival dlc, ive left my game discs on the ship so i hope a no cd crack wont brick my account or something similar. For the people who have played through it, is it any good?

LOL, not really. I thought it was the worst of the lot! Certainly isn't anywhere near the greatness of Lair of the Shadow Broker.

It was a bit of a pain doing the bit where you have to hold out on insanity. It was easy enough untill one of the big mechs decided they were going to join the party. I used a nuke and that still only got it to half armor, fortunately by that point only a handful of troops remained so i wasnt in too much danger of getting flanked.

I've just remembered how annoying that bug with the stealth is(Stealth breaks if you reload). Also enemies automatically know when you stealth so just stay in cover. It actually makes steath useless in 80% of situations and i just have to rely on the widow(one hit kill head shots on weakest enemies) and the time slowdown which makes it easy enough.
