***** Official OcUK Twitch List - Important Information in the Opening Post *****

I had a bit of trouble to begin with. In the end I ran the game to begin with and then added it through OBS while it was running (there may be a better way but that how I did it).

As for chat etc you could always use a laptop or smartphone connected to your twitch chat. I used my phone to begin with and then realised my laptop would obviously be a better choice.

Yeah, I was using an old ghetto laptop yesterday for keeping an eye on chat and also checking the stream quality etc; that's how I was finding out that OBS wasn't capturing the games correctly in the Dashboard. Pretty frustrating as I could see people were tuning in just watching me, a blank background and listening to the Skyrim intro music :p

I'll give that a go Cobra thanks. I think the easiest way will be a 2nd monitor tbh - can control OBS, chat, twitchalerts on the fly etc. From the looks of it Valkia has 3 which seems pretty uber :D

Just a little heads up for you lot.

This coming Saturday (14th) im doing a 12 hour stream with a fellow streamer "joonasplaysgames". It will start at about 9am GMT. We are playing DayZ to begin with and we are inviting viewers to join us too. So if you guys want to tag a long and join us please do. Or if you fancy tuning in at some point Saturday I would really appreciate it. Thinking about streaming DayZ, H1Z1 BR & Spintires that day.

Secondly I'll be live tonight from about 8:30-9:00pm gmt. Teaming up with joonas again.

Hey peeps,

First of all thanks to everyone who has dropped by my stream recently, really appreciate the support.

You may see me lurking in your channel at times, I'm really busy when at times when I'm not streaming so even if I don't interact much I like to support you by boosting the viewers at the very least.

I've finally (almost) sorted out my Dxtory recording and then streaming from Dxtory using Obs to twitch. I was wondering what settings you guys tend to use for twitch? Is 30 fps good enough? I've been using 3000kbps for bitrate which seems to be OK.

I did try 60fps @ 3500kbps but my in game frame rate for War Thunder tanked (bit much for my poor 2600k to handle :()

I use 30fps and the bitrate set to 2250. I did try upping the bitrate to 2500 but some people were saying that is was buffering. Im going to leave mine at 2250 for the time being as I don't want to eliminate anyone if I can.

Oh and just a heads up. Viewers are welcome to join in tomorrow if they wish. Server and TeamSpeak details are on my twitch profile page. Its now starting at 8am

What resolution are you streaming at? 720p I presume.

Also, are you recording via DXTory as well as streaming or just using DXTory to capture the game?

30 FPS is more than enough if you're streaming. 60 FPS is overkill tbh in most circumstances and not really necessary.

Bitrate I'd suggest 2250-2500kb/s depending upon your system, resolution, upload and amount of viewers.

60 fps and 3500kb/s will kick your system as you've found out and it's overkill.

I am playing games @ 1440p, DXTory is recording @ 1080p 60fps using AMD shadowplay thing to my 2nd SSD. It is also outputting to OBS which I am streaming to twitch @ 1080p 30fps. Upload is 19mbps so that isnt a problem.

Realistically you're tanking your system as it's having to transcode the game frames from 1440p down to 1080p 60 times per second, record it to an SSD, output to OBS, transcode a 1080p input from 60 fps to 30 fps and then upload to Twitch.

That's putting a hell of strain on your system tbh, even keeping at 60fps will probably affect performance although it'll be interesting to test.

Do you need to use DXTory to record the gameplay? Can you not bypass it totally and use the AMD software to capture at 1440p bypassing the need to transcode 1440-1080 (sorry I have an Nvidia card so use Shadowplay)?

Just trying to save your resources to help improve performance.

It can only capture at a max of 1080p (atleast for now). I tried using the amd program but felt pretty crap tbh :p Tried using obs but its a pain as you have to use a beta / alpha version with the AMD VCE support, where as dxtory it seems easier (also dxtory can create seperate audio tracks, useful for removing ts from recordings)

Will try some other games out for testing but with my latest settings I'm getting 60 - 80 fps in Warthunder while recording and streaming. I'm planning to upgrade to a 5930k soon so that will help a huge amount.

It would be cool if we could arrange an en-masse group watch on peoples streams to help them get up the page rankings.

If we all dived into a stream for a while, that'd get more people watching, which in turn makes more followers for the stream & they hopefully become regular viewers.

We used a similar technique to jump start Battlefield servers :D

Oh lawd jesus and everything that is holy I've finally got OBS working with game capture! :D

I set my second monitor up today and tried OBS....didn't work (just got the dreaded black screen). Uninstalled MSI Afterburner & RTSS....still not working. Changed several setting in OBS after checking the forums....still not working.

Ready to tear my hair out when I decide to check the logs, it seems it couldn't hook to opengl (I think) as a DLL was already hooking onto it, a piece of recording software which I had installed.

Uninstalled that and lo and behold it all works :D getting a bit late now but starting Friday night or Saturday I will be streaming! Woohoo! :D

Right....going live in a minute. Going to be on playing a bit of footie on FIFA15.

Go easy on me :o if anyone wants to watch that would be awesome, also if there's any buffering issues or any tips anyone wants to share please go ahead and let me know!
