*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

I am not pre-ordering, but if reviews are good and it lives up to those videos, then I am ready. One of the reasons I actually got my 1080 :)

I already preordered on uk.gamesplanet.
I just love Arkane games too much, I want to support them so they can make more. And I am one of the lucky ones for whom Dishonored 2 ran perfectly fine (and the game was a total masterpiece btw).
I actually took next week off so I can play Prey as much as I want. If only it was friday already, dammit.

They should have released the demo also on Steam IMO. I may just wait a few weeks or a month and pick it up after a few patches when I can get it around £20. That is if I can hold out that long. lol.

I read that one of the developers have said that they didn't release a demo because the 2 hour refund policy of Steam is basically like a demo

Sounds pretty ****** to me... I really hope it's well optimized - but if it isn't, I hope they get ripped apart :p

That is a very silly reason.

It seems like a valid reason to me? I mean it is true anyone can try the game for two hours and then refund, so it is free.
But I think more important reason for no PC demo is because they do not want to make cracking of the final game easier, and demos can sometimes help crackers with the access to executable.

Makes sense but for their sake, lets hope it runs well otherwise, we could have a repeat of Batman AK i.e. game launched in a **** show poor state and due to the amount of refunds, WB pulled the game as they were losing money since valve/steam keep their cut for listing the game.....

Exactly what I was thinking. But I can't be asked to buy the game fUll price on steam to try it as a demo. I probably would forget and go past 2 hours and then find a bug later.

For example there was a game breaking bug with Deus Ex Mankind Divided in the last quarter of the game. I got stuck in the metro and could not go past that loading screen. Took them a few days to release a fix so I could not play.

Anyway, not a huge deal for me personally, demo or no demo, I just want the game to be very good. Even if with bugs on release, at least after a few patches we will have an awesome game to play. If it is super polished with no bugs but the game sucks, that would be much worse :p

Not entirely sure that I would agree with Mack that we havent had games that come close to Half Life for immersion, one of the most immersive games I have played ever is Alien Isolation, I suspect there is a little tinting of rose on his glasses maybe.
