*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

Mack is VERY much stuck in the mentality, that the fondness of the past that nostalgia falsely presents itself with, makes anything modern seem rubbish.

People look back at the past and fond memories and think they are better than what we have today, because of the good feelings they give us when we think of them....but in reality if you go back and play these older games, they really show how far gaming has come along over the years and how amazing some modern games are. (not all....some are terrible)

Mack is a perfect example of this......almost all modern games he hates, he constantly gives terrible reviews and oozes about the good old days with his stupid bell.

HL2 is no better than any modern shooter today....Imagine if the Witcher 3 came out around the same time as HL2......people would look at it with the same godly memories.

"War has never been so much fun,
war has never been so much fun
Go to your brother
Kill him with your gun
Leave him lying in his uniform
Dying in the sun"

HAHA epic Greg, Epic, still remember that song in my head like it was yesterday. And Mega Lo Mania as well :)....damn anyway, dont want this to get off topic, just I find all the hype for Prey a little strange, almost like they hyping it because there is nothing else to get excited about at the moment. Come on Star Citizen I need you.
"Do you want to come on my side?" I was trying to remember the name but couldn't with Mega-Lo-Mania :D

And yep, sorry guys for the OT but at our age, it is always about the olden days and I am Preying the hype is real, as I need a new game. Star Citizen is really looking good as well but looking at their expectations, I will probs be 6ft under before that is released :(

Oh I dont know about that. I played HL1 remaster very recently and it made me realise how **** FPS shooters generally are. The same with the Doom remaster - ******* awesome mainly because it was a slight modern twist on a classic run and gun format.

Not entirely sure that I would agree with Mack that we havent had games that come close to Half Life for immersion, one of the most immersive games I have played ever is Alien Isolation, I suspect there is a little tinting of rose on his glasses maybe.

I was thinking that too when playing Outlast today - it's completely immersive with no HUD, maps or the hand-holding that Mack refers to. I guess horror games are the exception though aren't they? Given that a horror game needs immersion to be an effective horror game...

Watched the video in the Op and I must be missing something as it just looks like a bland, generic shooter to me. I kind of enjoyed the first, but it was one of them games I just raced through to completion then never touched again, like quake 4.

Watch the footage posted above. If it still doesn't have any appeal, you can always go back to playing Syberia! ;)

Where did Syberia come from? I haven't bought the latest as it has awful steam reviews.

I do want this game to be good but so far haven't seen anything to get excited about. I'll check out the other video tomorrow when I have an hour to spare.

I decided, against my better judgement, to buy a pre-order key for this from CDkeys. Turns out the key is invalid. Great.

I think you've just been unlucky. Contact support and they will issue a replacement. I've ordered two copies of Prey through them, and both activated successfully.

Aus VPN works game has launched :)

Edit: I know you guys want to know performance well fully maxed out at 1440p on my overclocked maxwell titan it hasn't dipped below 105fps at any point in the first 10 mins which doesn't surprise me as the graphics are nothing special.

That being said I've encountered a bug where there is no voices for any characters! Could just be a decryption patch issue but others on reddit reporting the same.
