!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

Anyone else having general problems with the Rage driver? Seems to have made my system incredibly unstable in almost all games :(

Right I have only started looking at this game.

Am I right in thinking it looks a bit like Borderlands mixed with Fallout 3?

Also whats the cheapest you can get it.

Guys,i havent read the entire thread, people that have been playing this,is this worth the money?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Ah isnt released till the 7th ;)

Hope so too, but Zenimax may decide that PC game releases are too much trouble/messy and therefore bad publicity after this - so make it console-only like Microsoft did with Halo

If that happens, then that truly would be the end of PC gaming as we knew it.

Ahem, anyone know if there's a new all singing all dancing Xbox due soon ?

What do games developers use to develop on these days ?. You twould hink they would notice gfx related problems durring development process unless there dev boxes are all intel gfx exclusive or something.

Has anyones preorder from game been posted yet? I got an email earlier saying "your preorder" giving me info on it (as if i didnt already know) but nothing since then. At the minute their website seems to be sluggish as all hell.. Looks like i'll be lucky to have it for Saturday, still "unshipped" apparently :(

Cant even order from them at the moment always says payment failed i rang the bank and bank told me everything on my end was fine so seems there having issues AGAIN. Dont really want to order it from them but i have reward points to use.

Thanks, grabbing these now. Game has been dispatched today so should have it tomorrow. Drivers arrived just in time. :)

I'm getting an install error at the ' Microsoft Visual C++ 2010' point, sigh =/

Yeah I get that too. Apparently it's to do with the install path. Do you install to default location or do you alter it? I don't think it's a show stopper but annoying, yes. :)

FOV and Motion Sickness

Slightly OT but hopefully this video (in two) parts will help people better understand why some users suffer from motion sickness while playing games with relatively narrow FOVs...

It's a bit long at a total of 16mins but it's the best explanation I've seen. Essentially, many FPS games have been designed with the "play it on your TV from the sofa" notion in mind where the narrow FOV will not affect even the most motion sickness prone users. Play the same game at desk where the monitor is much closer and that's where the narrow FOV will begin to cause problems for some people.

If a game supports FOV adjustment I usually set mine to 90 or 100 in order to avoid any ill effects, since my 2407WFP is only about 2.5 feet away on my desk.

As for Rage, the default FOV is 80. Add +cvaradd g_fov 10 to the start-menu/desktop shortcut (or Steam launch options for the game) and it will change the FOV 90 degrees. You can adjust the 10 to a 20 if you want the FOV to be 100 degrees, and obviously anything in between also works. Found this tip on http://www.gamepur.com/news/5615-rage-pc-version-tips-adjust-graphical-settings.html

Thanks!! I'll be using this for sure as I hate how some games make me feel sick after awhile. :) I always disable head bob and things too. :)

Ah, my game has been posted, email arrived when iw as out :) Possibly get it tomorrow but unlikely, roll on Friday.

This is really dumb having an ATI driver for Rage and then another for BF3 beta. Driver support is rubbish lately.
