!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

I thought it would be good driver support seen as how they actually released them specifically for those games. lol

They could have just not done it and we'd all have worse performance.

Are some spoiler warnings too much to ask for?

Watching trailers and looking at screenshots is one thing but I would have appreciated the easter eggs a lot more if I had discovered them for myself.

:(

Sorry dude, I've changed mine to a link now! :o

Don't worry about it and thanks :) To be honest I should have learnt my lesson by now as this kind of thing has happened before... but I've been following this thread mainly because of the technical issues etc people are experiencing.

Oh well, I still get to try and find them :)

A friend of mine is using this in his cfg file and says it looks better.
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192
vt_pageimagesizevmtr 8192
vt_restart
vt_maxaniso 4
image_anisotropy 4

Taken from here http://www.geforce.com/News/article...-resolution-textures-with-a-few-simple-tweaks

I may get this when they get SLI working as it's only using 70% of 1 gpu on a GTX295 :(

Okay, having played a bit I can safely say the game is......VERY GOOD! I can't see where all the complaints are coming from at all? Maybe I just get lucky with games all the time or something? :p

Yes, up close some textures look low quality but you are rarely eyeballing surfaces when playing anyway and from a close enough distance, say a few feet, everything looks really crisp and sharp. I got no tearing out of the box and I only enabled the additional text file mod mentioned earlier:

seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"

I enabled transcoding and am using 4xFSAA, at no point did the framerate stutter or fluctuate outside of 60fps. I also note that there is absolutely no texture pop-in for me.

I played using a GTX460 and 4.3GHz i5 and 16GB RAM.
I noted that my GPU meter widget for Windows on the 2nd screen reporting VRAM usage being around 250-300MB while outside in the wasteland. Quite remarkable really as I was expecting it to be higher going by the guides saying if you use the additional config file mods you should have ideally a 1.5GB card.

Loading times were also very fast, only a few seconds to load everything so far.

I'm glad to be buying this :D

Also, I noticed that if you crash in the buggy you get some cool physics deaths like in another certain driving game :p

(I've enabled the console to try fov changing using a guide online so be wary of that as it disables achievements)

The shotgun sounds so sublime, my speaker's woofers absolutely love it! So much recoil feedback :p

Oh and just like with BF3, the GTX 460 continues to amaze me as it can keep up with today's titles easily :p

Also I can see how some people can get motion sickness, the game is almost too smooth, it's so smooth that I initially felt a bit woozy but adjusted quite quickly.

Great game, if you have an nVidia card

The ati issues were down to an old set of drivers, resolved yesterday :) The main port of complaint is the low quality textures in some areas =/

The deaths at the end of the vid were pretty good though :p

Thank goodness for the gaming community :) Rage just keeps looking better and better. I hope id releases an official statement soon and a patch so we don't have to faff about much longer with cfg files and display settings.

Seems to be a largely an ATi problem in regards to performance, as most people with Nvidia GPU's aren't having any issues.

Right, my copy should be here in the morning, and I've been keeping up with the thread so far but despite that I'm getting confused on what tweaks should be added etc...now I've already got the ati drivers installed..now if someone could make a list and links to add to the OP would be helpful for moat I think. What do you think?
