I was more managerial than techy, but I started as a tech so I'm probably clinging on to my 'XP skills' too much as I'm not all that familiar with these new fangled '7 machines. :)

I have an example where by my brand new laptop loads a certain graphic app slower than my 5 year old 'main' PC, sure the main PC has faster HDD's but it still proves a point... it's quicker than a brand new clean build!

ive just tried playing the game with 11.10 driver and it runs like a bag of cack on my 5870! seriously bad screen tearing and it just doesn't feel smooth at all! first game to do so since ive build this PC!

Did you install the 11.10 from earlier in the week? That had an old set of oGL drivers and caused more problems.

Go with 11.9 and THEN install the rage driver found here - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU121AMDCatRagePerfDriver.aspx

Uninstall current driver, reboot in safemode, delete graphics adaptor in device manager, reboot and install 11.9, reboot, install rage driver (no reboot required) and you're done.

Well, you can't really compare two computers of difference specifications, especially one that you've just pointed out has a slower hdd.

I avoided Vista for a long time for reasons similar to those you have mentioned but the transition to W7 isn't that bad really. It took me maybe a week or two to feel comfortable with it.
 
Well since I am at work I cannot play and then talk about the latest adventure in game so what else is there to do :p

My one single gripe about the game is you cannot skip cutscenes, this is annoying! It's not like as if it's loading the next segment of game during them either, it takes 3 seconds to load the game save from the main menu for starters!

Less jibber jabber from NPC, more gun winging action! I'll read the details in the mission info screen later!

I'm holding off because I'm stuck in my ways with years of installs and data... it would be a horrible job to undertake.

If Bulldozer turns out to be good I might treat myself to a new build and start over... but that really doesn't sound like fun! :(:D

I'm waiting out until Friday. At that point I'll have my shiny new 27" hazro and I'll be able to fix some of the annoying vomit-headache inducing issues I had on Tuesday.
 
I have a Hazro, 24" though, you will be impressed by the image quality of games like this on such a screen!
 
I got my "collectors edition" today. Literally all I got was 2 DVD boxes, 1 containing the game and the other containing a making of DVD. Wtf happened the comics and stuff ? :mad:

It didn't even come in a box like that unboxing vid,'literally 2'dvd cases in a stiff brown envelope .

I also note that games website has no mention of any collectors edition anymore.

Is it from GAME? There was some discussion further back about them doing dodgy stuff with pre-orders.

Yeah it is, there definitely getting an email asking wtf they're playing it. Seems very dodgy that the site since yesterday has had no mention of collectors edition.

What drivers are Nvidia users rocking with at the moment for rage? 285.38?
 
Right, ive got major problems with this - Cant even get it to run for more than 3 secs before it freezes for 5 secs, unfreezes for 3 secs etc..its using 15% of the graphics power at this stage and 100% of both cores on the CPU - Ive done the ATi driver thing, uninstall, safe mode remove etc and that doesnt make a difference at all. I have no such issues with any other games at all so im quite confused by this and by all acounts i cant find anyone else with this issue lol.

Edit oh on the back of my DVD case it says "Not For Supply In The UK" lol

Time to crack the knuckles and send a nice email to game asking them wtf theyre playing at.

I wasnt expecting a big box, but the fact they've removed contents from the pack without a warning or discount is disgraceful. :mad:

Game runs amazingly smooth now (thanks to bleek) and no texture popping on my 5870! using the 8k textures mrk posted earlier!

some of the lightning effects in this game are jaw dropping! cant wait to finish work tonight so i got 4 days to complete it :D the AI are awesome also!

also Bleek is there any chance i could grab the high quality config off you please wouldn't mind trying it out!

FOR ANY1 HAVING CRASHES DURING MAP TRANSITIONS.. TRY THIS (WORKED FOR ME)

elo.. ive tried all the fixes/drivers etc etc and its running super smooth and looks nice now
but i still get the crashing 4 out of 5 times during the transitions.. and it never let me go into mutant bash tv until i just by chance tried something else.. might not work for every1 but it seems to work all the time for me now..

what i do .. just before i go into a map transition i quick save it (usually doesnt crash) then enter the new map (it crashes) then instead of reloading my save i go continue campaign and it seem to work evertime.. its like besides the quicksave i did i stores some other info telling the game im on the OTHER map now just b4 it crashes.. so when i continue campaign it doesnt have to do the transition..its like i was already on the map kinda of thing.. so it doesnt ever seem to crash :)

not sure if it will work for every1 else but thought i post it just incase it helped 1 more person heh
