I also work in an IT field and know my stuffIt isn't ridiculous at all when it's a one hour job and the result is a faster working PC. Perhaps if I was a much more patient person I could stick with years-old installations.
I was more managerial than techy, but I started as a tech so I'm probably clinging on to my 'XP skills' too much as I'm not all that familiar with these new fangled '7 machines.

I have an example where by my brand new laptop loads a certain graphic app slower than my 5 year old 'main' PC, sure the main PC has faster HDD's but it still proves a point... it's quicker than a brand new clean build!
